I currently have two option with my wiper speeds: Medium and Fast. Of all of the upgraded features for safety and modernization within the Tacoma, they opted to forgo intermittent options with the wiper speeds on this truck in the base SR model. A base model Kia Rio has more options of wiper speeds than I do.

Is there any way I can do a simple part replacement with a nob that allows for different wiper speeds? Or will I have to take it in for a computer update of some kind? I am moving from zero rain (California) to all of the rain (Florida) for school and the minimal options are already annoying.

I don't think there is a knob swap to fix this issue. There would need to be a program to allow for the multiple speeds (If applicable)

    Edit:
It could be possible due to the fact the TRD models have intermit options. My sport has more speeds

Pull the upper and lower column covers and get one from a taco, carola, or prius that has it. Common ebay or Amazon part. My first mod, 1/2 beer level of difficulty. Lower level taco models don't come with intermittent wipers but it's an easy, cheap upgrade.

At least with my 2015, there was no programming necessary. I simply swapped out the non-variable wiper with the variable speed wiper and everything just worked. I assume that the 2016 would be the same experience :fingerscrossed:

I no longer have my resources available, but there are some buried in the forum which include simple how-to's to open the steering column. Just make sure you're ordering the correct part. (Expect to pay ~$120.) The whole project probably took me maybe 20 minutes, most of which was my being super cautious so not to scratch up anything during disassembly/reassembly.

If you dont have fogs you may still be prewired for them in which case consider getting both side stalks along with fog lamps/housings/oem switch. See Nitori's oem foglight mod.

I do have the wiring for the Fogs. I would like to add those but not at this time. Thank you for the heads up!

I mentioned it because the two stalks are each half of one assembly that collars the column. you can replace either half or the entire thing. While you're checking prices compare the cost of both vs one at a time, it may be cheaper to buy both now even if you don't do the foglight mod right away. It might save some money down the road and another foray into the steering column. Might not but worth checking.

Toyota needs to give customers a reason to upgrade to the pricier models. But agreed, intermittent wipers should be standard.
I think with your current setup, if you lift the stalk up and release it should give you a single wipe. Kind of a manual intermittent. Might be easier than turning them off/on constantly.

See above - just bought the part from eBay for $90 and replaced it in 10 minutes. It's all plug and play and very nice. You can also add cruise control - I picked that up off ebay for $16.
