Irony: Went from doing a lot of multi-person roadtrips in my '89 Civic hatch and '03 Outback to never having more than two people in my '15 Crosstrek in the three years I owned it. Bought the Access Cab in late November or early December of last year, and I've had three people in it several times already. Kind of wish I'd gotten a DCSB (the DCLB is just too long), but, at the same time, not one person has actually complained about the rear seating in the AC... even the friend who was 6'3" and sat back there by choice instead of asking the 5'5" friend to sit back there. Didn't really feel any more cramped than flying in a 737 when I've sat back there, although it would be nice if the side windows popped outwards to the rear like on some of the older models.

This is kind of annoying, but really only when someone is parked unreasonably close. My landlord almost always parks unreasonably close, to the point where I usually back in now.

Nope. Not at all. But if someone gonna talk about a sports car, just wanna see if they ever had one and drove it like it was meant to be driven. I have one, and been there done that. So I can compare. ;)

Not to detail thread, I'll just say I know about fast and taco is not it. Nor does it handle like one. I was mainly referring to the bucket seats and no need to make excuses for why you don't want to take 3 other people with you.

DC are 25/1 over AC @ dealerships. Very rare to find in certain colors and configs. Found my AC 400 miles, 15 dealerships and one state away.

For instance let's say you want a '19 CALVARY BLUE MT AC TRD SPORT. I'm guess there may be 6 in the entire country. AT - perhaps 10. To make matters worse, no dealer will trade a rare Tacoma like this so your local dealership cant even trade one for you even if they happen to locate one somewhere. Let alone offer you a discount.

Which also means it’s harder to sell. Not as many people are looking for ACs.

I considering going from DCLB to ACLB, but in the end DCLB actually fits my needs better so I will be keeping my truck. I have a very low mileage 2018 DCLB and I was about $5000 between my current DCLB and 2019 ACLB. Just giving you a ballpark figure. If you live in a state where trade-in value is taken away from the taxed total, you will do better, but will probably still be about $3000 apart.

Edit: Also I was $5000 apart between my 2018 DCLB TRD OR Prem/Tech for a 2019 ACLB TRD OR Prem/Tech.

This. AC are rare, and they are very special. To like 50 people.

Double cab trucks are the new standard, 4 doors is now an expectation. I think it’s fucking heresy, but it doesn’t matter what I think. Buyers want 4 doors.

That said, I have a new problem. If this 17 AC 4x4 manual gets wrecked by a deer, set on fire by a lighting bolt, t boned...that’s it. Unless I can find a used one.

Well, normally that would be the case you would think, however, It's not that dealerships aren't building themselves AC's due to lack of interest, It's that Toyota aren't allocating them due to retarded production data. I visited two local dealerships that have a waiting list a mile long for calvary blue TRD's of any style. Its a 2019 color, along with Cement. All dealers have like 5 Cements on the lot but zero Blues. They sell as soon as they trickle in. I asked why they just don't order more blues and they said Toyota doesn't work like that they just allocate what's available.

I wouldn't base the rare allocation to demand as they aren't related. Only Toyota has the philosophy of "Take what you can get because if you don't buy it, someone else will". Lexus is the same way. Again if you're talking one access for every twenty crews, acesses are rare enough to have it's own market. Go to Autotrader.com and run a search for doubles and accesses. Look at the sheer lopsided result numbers. I doubt very seriously that Acesses' are hard to sell, in fact look at asking prices, I bet they book out the same for less doors, proving that certain buying markets only want accesses, myself included. We wouldn't even take a double at the same price.

Dogs need a little room. Throw in a sub box, tool bag, cold weather gear and anything else and a access cab fills up pretty quick.

New and used markets are different. Like I said earlier, I owned an 05 and 09 AC and they were harder to sell used then the 09 DC I also owned and sold last year.

I hated garage life, had to open the front door to open the back door, thus trapping my dog once he landed on the ground.

We're saying the same thing....Fewer people want AC and fewer AC available. It's a wash. If on your local CL there are 3 AC's for sale and 20 DC's The selling pool is far smaller however your truck will sell due to the limited choices. We're talking Tacoma's here. Where I live in the Bay Area, low mileage Tacoma's and Frontiers will sell on the secondary market for nearly the same price as a new one. I have never seen a hard sell or a bargain on either truck. You can ask just about anything and still get interest. It's bizarre.
