I just purchased a new 4x4 TRD and have only been driving it on pavement so far. I'm coming from a lux sports car so I know there will be big suspension \ tranny differences, but I am noticing that I am getting a consistent shutter every once in a while while driving. It feels almost like driving a stick and being in a higher gear than I should be.

does anyone have this issue? I'm trying to find out if it's a problem or just something I need to get used to.

How many miles and how fast are you going when the shutter hits?

Sounds like it happens with some trucks and not others, mine is brand new and I don't feel a shutter. Also sounds like it's something Toyota is fully aware of and they are saying it's "normal".

it's brand spanking new. <1000 miles. It happens at pretty much any speed. I'm bringing it to the dealer next week to inspect and then test a similar model to see if the same thing occurs. Best i can describe is the stick shift analogy, where being in a higher gear kind of gives the trans/car a small stutter until the speed catches up.

Try a full tank of premium and see if it goes away - it shouldn't do this, but many of us have had this issue when running 87 and it goes away when running a higher octane. Feels like detonation / slight miss and yes very similar to the feeling of trying to pull in too high of a gear generally under slow acceleration in my experience.

Mine does too and I’m at about 1600 miles. It’s like the torque converter can’t make up its mind. I think they all do it. Dealership will most likely tell you it’s normal.

Mine does this too, I usually just try to ignore it or give it more skinny pedal and it comes out it it. It’s more noticeable on a slight uphill grade I find. Perfect way to describe it though, to high of gear in a standard trans.
