The guys running 16's (stock size 265/70/16) seems to be airing down to 20 psi or even a few psi lower in some situations with no issues.

With the 17 inch rims (265/65/17) whats a safe amunt to air down to then? 24psi. 26 for washboarded rough dirt roads?

I'll do 15-20 psi with out any apprehension. When I get stuck in the snow I go down to single digits, but also I won't go above 25 mph.

I regularly go to 18 psi but keep in mind your tires will have more effect on wether or not you can do it safely. Something with a stiffer sidewall has less chance of blowing a bead than a passenger car tire. Not all “off road” tires are made equally.

Off-road and on the beach I go down to 17 PSI regularly. I also carry a Viair 400 to air back up. Running 265/70 - 17 Cooper ATW’s

Are you talking about the factory tires or have you mounted ko2 / duratracs / etc?
For above tires 15-20psi no worries all day long, 35 mph logging roads.

For the stock off the factory line street tires they sell with the truck, don’t bother going below 24psi. They are not Offroad tires. Construction is not LT. Side walls are not ply of any great rating if you kiss a rock or even look at it the wrong way. Lol. Of course you can go lower, but the bulge it creates more opportunities for rocks to tag that weak sidewalk.

Follow my train of though before you disagree with me lol.

Not sure how much difference there is between the 16" and 17" from an airing down perspective with the same tire. I ran 10-15psi on stock tires on a 16" rim without much issue. You really wont know how low to go until you pop a bead.

Right now i am talking stock tires destination le2's. I do have some trips planned that will be long stretches of rough surface, but want to smooth some of it out. i figured 5psi down would be about my max, only a few hundred pounds of gear and me so still relatively lightweight.

When i do wear these out i will probably be getting the dueler revo 3s, and P rated. i would like to think that the a/t tire, though p rated would still give me a couple more psi in the future

I don’t think you’ll see much difference with 5 psi

I had no issue at 15 on 17" OEM wheels, with the stock 16" wheels and mini van tires it was a little to low for my tastes but 18 seemed about my bottom limit.
