I have a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road four-wheel drive and am planning on putting a leveling kit on it that is 3 inch lift in the front and a 2 inch lift in the rear. Not sure how I should go as far as tires and wheels and don't want to screw up my ride quality.
I was thinking about possibly going with 34 tires and adding a little bit of width and maybe going with a 20in wheel rather than the stock 16.

Not sure how this will actually work or if it will work and how it will affect the ride. I have heard stories about people going with bigger tires and winding up with the truck kicking into and out of overdrive and problems of that nature and would like to avoid any of that.

You want as much rubber between the rim and the road for ride quality and yeah 34’s and up will require a gear change as theses trucks are already geared wrong from the factory if automatic with 3.90’s

I find it interesting how “leveling kits” now include rear lifts as well. I thought leveling kits made truck level by raising front to “level” out the truck. Then there were 2/1 and now 3/2. Why not call it a lift kit?

If you don’t want to screw up your ride quality, leave it alone. The tires are what screw it up IMHO.

That being said my KM2’s are rough and loud. I don’t care though.

So something more in the 32 inch or 33 inch range would probably be a safer bet?

I get that the overall ride will change a little bit, I have 31 and 1/2 inch tires on it right now without a lift kit, I just don't want to screw it up to the point where it can't figure out what gear it wants to be in going down the road.
Lifting 3 inches in the front and 2in in the back still technically would level it off but I do agree that it is pretty much a lift kit at that point :)

I'm basically just trying to raise it up a little bit and give it more of an aggressive stance and look without going crazy with it.20190508_133622-01.jpg

Yeah 32-33...add wheel spacers for more aggressive stance.
