I have them in the rear corners. Another member cracked his bed back there under similar conditions. Figured with two adults and two little ones bouncing around in the tent, there was far more stress on the bed than it was designed to hold. But I also have a different situation than most here.

Plus, they make great anchor points for tie downs, and mine have built in bottle openers.

Let me know how you like them - and if you notice a difference.

I've thought that too about different racks/bars, how they're constructed, and how they might affect the bedsides or distribute the weight differently. But I kind of figured that bed bars would actually make the sides stronger, no? I never noticed any separation back when I had bed bars either.

I didn’t have too much concern with my bed rack and RTT. It was an all-pro so the flanges were down the bedtails. I could still see the bed flopping and deforming with the setup.

Now with the hab, I am putting a ton of force down on those rear corneres with the tent deployed.

mine should arrive monday. the total chaos ones i bought are more expensive but I liked that they go all the way up the bedside, and they don't seem to block as much of your path moving things in and out. I saw @Rob Daman has them and decked drawers, I plan to add decked drawers probably later this summer too. I was afraid some of the other bed stiffeners might get in the way of the drawers.

Ya, that's one of my main reasons for not getting them, as I know they'd get in my way for how I pack things.

I've gone back and forth on those drawers for years. Sometimes I want them, sometimes I don't. They'd be awesome for trips, but kind of suck for everyday Home Depot family truckster stuff. I like having my full bed at times. Let me know if you get them, I'd like to see them in person.

    Will do.

I met someone last fall at Midwest overland society's fall rendezvous that had it. It made me want them even more. I thought about the fact that it permanently takes up space, but I rarely need the truck bed for moving large stuff. My topper limits that too anyways. If anything it means friends can't ask me to use the truck to help them move lol.

I'm sure as soon as I get it there will be a time I need all the bed space lol. I figure if I really need to move some big stuff I can just rent a trailer... Or borrow my parents Silverado.

Hey guys who's up for a Lake Nokomis Tacoma meet? Also posted this on the FB Minnesota Tacoma page. Looks like there are about 6 others down at this point. No date set yet. I'm busy next weekend but I'm down for any weekend after that.

Last year put in ome in the rear. I think i was over weight too long. Unloaded the truck. It woukd not come back. Broke 2 leaves on drivers side and one on the passanger.

Butting the stock ones back in for now. Thinking about the chevy springs i got but its sunday. Work tomorrow. Not enough time to revamp the suspension.

    Jeebus, what are you hauling?!

I carry close to 1k in payload on my OMEs w/flipped first overload and d29xl’s, with timbrens for backup... off road. I’ve never had an issue.

There is a reason for the weight rating in the bed of the truck and now you know why.

I think the newer OME Dakar’s have had manufacturing sourced somewhere else. The old ones I think are better. I’ve seen some brand new ones installed and looking pretty sketchy. I think the airbags that Rich is trying is the way to go if you want flexibility and capacity. We’ll have to see what he reports back on how they work.

I get that feeling too. There was no reason to redesign their old leaf packs.

Despite the shoddy paint/finish, I'm mostly happy with this new pack so far. We'll see how long they last. After a few years if I need new packs I'll probably just get Deaver Stage II.

I thought they were moving back to Burnsville when the city’s ice enter construction was done... that sucks.

Installed the total chaos bed stiffeners @PoweredBySoy took me maybe half an hour.i did use an impact driver to make it real easy on the bed bolts. I forgot the washers on one side of the 3 vertical bolts lol so I had to take it off and put them on again. I really like the design, doesn't block a whole lot but these are more expensive, $150.
