    Well she’s ready!
Aside from the new wheels and tires, Morgan over at @At The Helm plasma cut me some plates out to build new shackles. And I forgot to click the solar panel in all the way during the winter and the battery I had in it was DEAD. It was 3 years old anyway and a good excuse for an upgrade to a NorthStar Group 31 AGM.

Does your chainsaw ride fine with just the Bungie cord?

Bungie is just to old the bar down. The chainsaw is actually held with a quick fist and bolted with a wingnut.

Amazing build man! I've enjoyed reading through this thread and getting ideas, what you have built is really impressive!

I just picked up a rusty old trailer that had an old Wisconsin engine oil/gas pump skid on it. I've been cutting welds and have it stripped it down to just the flat bed and I'm planning on building something similar to yours with it.

I'm still in the planning phase trying to decide exactly which direction I want to go with it, and if I want to strip it down any further to save weight.

I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions along the way hopefully you might be willing to help me with a few.

I appreciate it man, will do!

The trailer has a 4'x8' c channel bed frame under an 1/8" steel sheet bed, with an A frame tongue under under the bed frame, so it's pretty heavy right now.

Main things I'm trying to decide are right now are:

    - what I should replace the bed sheet metal with?

    - if I want to try my hand at something new and build the box frame out of aluminum (I've never welded aluminum)

    - what I should skin it with

-if I can make my old YJ leaf springs and shackles work to replace the trailer leafs

Going to be a fun and I'm sure frustrating at times project!

Hey man awesome build and some great ideas! I have a similar setup that I picked up half built last year (frame with axle and tires) and got it to a point of a few trips last year. I was about to build a box for the tongue that will work to hold the spare tire upright and a place to store more items down the road (battery, inverter, etc.), then I came across your thread. How do you like that delta tongue box?

Also heres a pic of where I am at with mine...0C33B1C0-A6E0-4B6C-9D06-A74E5114AD25.jpg

@jberry813, Solid set up you got there--well done.

I'm trying to weigh all the options for a off-road camping trailer myself..
    • Buy new = $$$!
    • Buy used = $$ + hard to find
    • Build myself = $$ + time (and resources that I might not have), but likely more rewarding in the end
Any first thoughts on these bullets?

I look forward to reading through your thread to better understand what I might be in for. Thanks for documenting it all!

Just my thoughts…try to rent one a couple of times to see if it works for your purposes.
If you build, please post the progress so we can see how you decided to do it.
    Good luck in your decision!
