The bigger metal box thing on both corners of the bumper in your video that you didnt know what it was at the time is the Radar sensors for BSM. The 4 black ones that can be seen on the exterior of the bumper is the parking sensors. So my understanding is that the BSM sensor needs to be behind plastic for it to detect cars in your blind spot, thats why I was curious if your BSM still worked or not. Since it was zip tied behind the metal bumper.

It’s a problem across all vehicle manufacturers...the more complex the technology, the harder it is to make modifications easily or do repair work yourself.

Well that sucks then! Good thing not too many same direction 2 lane highways in Kauai. I think I can count them on 1 hand:

Kuhio Hwy, From Hanamaulu to Ross Kapaa
Kaumualii Hwy, From the Kauai Hongwanji to KCC
Nawiliwili Road In front of Kuhio mall
I guess Rice street also if you count the parking lanes.
And if you count the overtake lanes between Puhi to Hanapepe side!
    Did I miss any? LOL

I go to Kauai for work WAAAY too often!

Wont be so good when you move back to the mainland though.

Yup, The metal boxes are the sensors for the BSM mirror warning lights and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Good thing you didnt take it into Servco...They would have charged you for that service!

If you are referring to your parking sensors for the beeping, there is a setting on the Head Unit. Make sure it is set to see farther back. Of course, the metal bumper could be a big factor also. Aftermarket sensors use a rubber sleeve to house the reverse sensors in the bumper (if they are metal) to help with that.

I was able to use the factory clips , things you run into when doing a simple upgrade

We are picking up a Jeep gladiator in the next few weeks (it’s on order). I hate how Toyota doesn’t make that much aftermarket things :/
