So I have a 2018 TRD OR DCSB M/T. I've been getting the diff howl for a few months now, and finally decided to tell the dealer about it. Also noticed that I had the famed leaking diff.

I carried in to the dealer. The master tech rode with me, and agreed he's hearing the noise. He also checked the diff and agreed it's leaking. They found the TSB for the howling diff (I even gave them the number), but my VIN is not within range. They said they'll talk to the Toyota Rep to see what can be done about the diff howl.

They talked to the rep who said that since my VIN is not in the range they need to do some investigation into what's going on. So I have to bring the truck in next Monday for them to look over to see what they should do about the diff (whether it's just new seal or a whole diff needs to be replaced), and what is causing the noise.

Any thoughts on this? Is this similar to anyone else's experience?

There is a big thread on that. Bottom line is exactly what your tech told you. The leak is simply a new seal.

Yea they said they'll fix everything under warranty, but the Toyota Rep thinks its not the the diff making the howling noise, so he wants them to see if there are other things which are wrong. Don't make sense to me at all. It follows all the signs of the TSB.

    Which TSB for transmission?
