MESO Puddle Light build

From what I've read, both. It's basically going to work same function as your dome lights. turn on when you open the door and same as a proximity if you walk up close to your truck they will turn on. i'm sure same when you lock and unlock, whenever you set your time delay to be.

I haven't noticed the dome lights in my truck turn on when I walk up to my truck without hitting the key fob. Is there something I need to do to make this happen?

I think your truck needs to already be unlocked? IDK honestly. I havent paid attention until you said anything. But I do know the lights do go on in proximity

 

Mine has always done it when my fab is a few feet from the (driver) door. I know there is a setting to set a time delay for how long it stays on when you lock it.

mine does locked or unlocked.

You need to have the map lights switch set to door. The modes are 'always off', 'door triggered', 'always on'. See the switch below. You want it set to the middle for 'door triggered'. Once you have that set, the map and dome lights will come on as you unlock the truck or approach it with the fob.



The @MESO puddle lights and harness tap into the dome circuit so the puddle lights act the same as the map and dome lights. They come on when you unlock the truck or approach it. They fade off just like the map and dome lights do after a period of time or after you lock the truck.

 

Is that the same for manual transmission trucks?

 

Dude....@MESO!!! Your Mods and DIY ethos are amazing! I don't have a 3rd Gen, so I can't use many of the designs you've come up with, but I just wanted to say AWESOME JOB!!!

It is truly inspiring to see you successfully take a concept, prototype it, and then market it to the hungry TW crowd. Every time I see a thread of yours on TW, I think "What a brilliant idea!" and you always execute the designs to be discreet and OEM in terms of quality and effectiveness.

I'm sure you are turning heads at Toyota's R&D dept. and probably causing some of the design Team to ask themselves "Why didn't I think of that"

Yes. They will activate on/off when lock/unlock. I am not sure you have the proximity sensor though...

If you have keyless entry With the handle lock / unlock I would think it would still work. I think the driving factor is the touch lock and unlock feature.
I could be wrong but that’s what indicates a proximity sensor.

 

Pretty sure you need push button start for the proximity sensor....

But I could be wrong, according to my wife it happens quite often.
