    Hey All!

It looks like I will be moving to the Sonoma County Marin County area for work towards the end of June. Money is going to be a bit tight for a month or two while I get my feet under me. I am super excited to be in such a beautiful area of the US as I am coming from the D.C. area. I have a really good looking first gen tacoma and am thinking of putting a roof top tent back on her. I was wondering if any of you have any areas you know of where I can camp for free for a bit? Or maybe if any of you have a bunch of land and I could post there, I could even help around with chores and things as well. I am avid surfer and would be hyped to be near the ocean however I am open to any opportunity. Thanks so much in advance.

Damn good reason to be jealous.

My Weatheetechs have treated me well; both front and rear.

Don't really care around l about the logo. In fact, I'd rather remove it all together. Lower quality is noted though.

    I wholeheartedly concur.

    Majestic af

Looks like maybe the Weathertechs might not be necessary. We'll see...

Lots and lots of public land all over California. If your willing to dry camp (no potable water and no fires in the summer/fall) you can do it almost anywhere.

I’d recommend finding a California map with the different national forest labeled and pick a spot you’d like to go. Then go find that local forest service station and ask them where the best spots are. They’ll give you the best info to begin with. Then while your exploring the area I’m sure you’ll come up with more spots!

This plan will work in almost any western state. Although BLM land is way more wide open.

Good luck and follow this thread:

*Oh and it goes without saying: tread lightly. Stick to the open roads and trails with the truck.*

I have a set of EGR window deflectors on my truck. Had them on for 10 years no problem. I would buy them again of I needed another set.

Welcome to the area man. Also, what @nDub said is spot on, and since it sounds like you’re single with no tie-downs, a much better alternative to anything else in order to save money.

This guy is local to the Sacramento area and lives out of his truck if you need some tips and/or motivation from a somewhat local person:

I am totaling willing to dry, I was planning on that anyways. You are saying it is legal to camp at public land in California? If that is the case that would be insane!!

Yes usually. Welcome to your lands!

There might be closed areas at certain times of the year or for restoration.

Wilderness areas have their own extra restrictions.

The local FS station will usually have all that info.
