    1. Buy 6x12' single axle trailer, overhang a couple feet on each end. Yes it's overkill... it's also real handy to own. I bought a 5x8 Tractor Supply trailer instead of renting one when I moved back to MD 8 years ago, it gets more than enough use to justify the $600 I spent on it, and I don't even use it that much.

    2. Roof rack and canoe rack idea, except that yeah... 16' does scare me a bit unless you put the roof rack way forward, and then the pipe would be on the cab if you tried to load the forward end first. And you'd be rocking 3-4' past the hitch if you centered it, but I suppose you could leave more hanging over the hood.

Ratchet strap at the front of the bed holding the front end into the bed. Ratchet straps also to shackles on my bumper. Did the trick for about a 5 mile drive on backroads

Maybe the most irresponsible thing i've ever seen. Makes the trailer meme look like something einstein thought up lol.

Yup. Sure was. But it got the job done in a time crunch and posed no danger to anyone. Clearly nobody picked up on the sarcastic bit about doing it all the time. Literally once. Still didn’t budge an inch on my speedy 10mph trip.

Why not? You can just put a flag on the end and you should be good to go.

Truck bed extender.jpg Assuming you have a trailer hitch on your truck, this is the fastest and cheapest way to go. I use mine to haul a impressive amount of 16' treated lumber a few times. Just be certain to strap it and flag it. I got mine from Harbor Freight and have had no issues.

10-11' behind the tailgate equates to 12-13' behind the rear axle. You would be a menace to other drivers. Imagine the common scenario of you making a sharp right-hand turn into a parking lot or driveway. The oncoming car in the left lane has no idea whats about to swing onto their side of the road as you do so.

Time to get a trailer. No doubt. I would not do it at all in my bed for safety and liability reasons.

Also if you do this regularly, I reccomend calling your auto insurance company to ensure you have proper business coverage and you max out your liability policies.

If you have a 16’ long steel object hanging out of your truck bed and someone rear ends you... you’ll be sued.
Make sure you are protected for those potential situations.

Please return your seats to the full upright position and stow your seatback trays for landing.

But it does pose a danger to others on the road... hence why that way of hauling is illegal...

You convinced me. That looks way cooler than an AMC Matador.

I would check my state regulations first since most states have a max length that a load can extend out from the vehicle.
