Back from the dead one more time. I've got the J66 leaf pack and Bilstein 5100s on my 2016 DCSB OR and this thing bottoms out going over the slightest bump or dip. Is it the shocks and if so what do I need?

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
Going to bring this back with the focus on 3rd gens. Anything out there that matches well with the king 2.5's standard rear? Looking at the j66's and wondering the same thing you guys originally posted about.

Anyone running Devers with 6112’s and 5160’s?

Not sure if the J66 or U402 stage 1 is a better option. No added weight on the truck yet, but plan on shell and bumpers in the future.

    Thanks

For something like that the u402 stage 1 looks like the better option due to no weight ratings on a the j66.
The 5160s are a good shock also should pair nicely with the deavers also having the resi with help prevent shock fade.

Here is some information that I have gathered for the Deaver leaf packs.

The Deaver J66 leaf spring pack will provide a nicer on-road ride then most of the other after-market leaf packs and is known to perform very well off-road. It is spec'd out to provide around 1.5" of lift over stock. If you do have consistent weight in the bed of the truck, tow or haul this pack wasn't really designed with that in mind so it can be lacking in that area.
So in reading the last part of this statement if you put anything in the back of your truck or plan to overland it for lack of better terms, these will not support anything, for the price of them its not worth it.
The Deaver U402 picks up where the J66 leaves off. This pack features 7 main leaves and 2 overloads and is designed in a way to help support weight and provide lift. It can have additional leafs added to support additional amounts of weight as well. The basic U402 pack will provide around 3" of lift on a Tacoma running around 300-400lbs of additional weight in the bed. If the weight is less than that then the lift will be more and the ride will in-turn be stiffer. The U402 II will provide around 3" of lift on a Tacoma running around 500-700lbs of additional weight and the U402 III pack will provide around the same amount of lift with an additional 700lb+ weight. Again the less weight the more lift and potentially a stiffer ride quality.

Again as part of where this thread is original questions and thoughts, shocks do play a part in this, and how will you really utilize the truck. The problem I run into is that I run from an empty truck to a full one depending on the use, but do utilize it quiet often and not to carry an RTT or bed bars, you know as a truck. The cost of the next level jumps significantly when it comes to purchasing, if I were to really consider this I would need to look at the U402 II setup and then also a good set of shocks to support the ride.

Maybe consider the curb weight of the truck. I picked the j66 because of how soft it was, and honestly, could have gone softer. I am running 8112s on the softest settings also.

Considering a double cab v6 4x4 is 500lbs more and has a 500lbs less of a payload ratings seems to me that a correction needs to be made on the evaluation of the springs being used. And, 0lbs payload rating on a J66 is probably rated for the most common Tacoma models, and after correction for a 4x2 access cab, could a j66 really carry 500lbs?

IMO, these spring ratings are for the DC 4x4 @ 4450lbs starting.

2.5s or better, the 5100s is not enough bc the 5100 is more of a OE replacement, not performance.

if once a month i drive with a 300lb jet ski in my bed on the highway only...will i ruin a pair of J66s prematurely? or will it just sag a bit and i can deal with it since its highway driving. i want the soft spring for offroad and zero bed weight.
