Just felt like a rum sort of night. :anonymous:

Pork chops, Caribbean rice, and sauteed veggies for supper made me feel nostalgic for our trip to Jamaica. So...some of the last bottle that I brought back.

If I'd been smart, I'd have mailed myself a case. At $25 for a 1 litre bottle it was a steal.

It's from a distillery in Waco and is a limited edition. While other Balcones are probably available, I could see this having less reach.

If I can ever hook you up, just let me know.

I've heard! I'll have to get my buddy to bring his 018 for a little side by side. :D

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
Picked up a bottle of Michter's Rye tonight. I was debating between this or their small batch bourbon. It's been a while since I've had a rye so I figured this was the right choice. Not bad so far.

Ok... @bvbull200 ... Finally cracked this one.

If this was my intro to Bookers, I'd go back to the store and buy them out! Wow! Unique is right?! I was expecting hot. Really quite tame. Compared to the Kentucky chew and old Forrester 1920. Very surprised.

Nose is hard to pin down. Nutty and oak? Some sweetness in there. Viscosity is good. Small burn on the back end but very manageable. Sweet chocolate notes with more of that spicy nutty finish...

    Go ahead with the comments:rofl:

Like a spiced chocolate of sorts.
Really really like it. Glad I got two. May get another...:spy:

Bourbons are sweeter by nature, but I like the spicy tendency of Booker's. This, though, is sweeter than I normally care for, but damn if it doesn't work nicely.

I really dig the batch. I think the sweeter chocolate description is plenty fair. A little dried cherries or something, too.

    Glad you dig it!

I've had the 2019-01 batch sitting on my shelf for about a month now. Waiting till I buy another one before I open it. I was the same as you with the 2018-04 Kitchen Table. It was my 1st taste of Booker's. Man was it good, even the wife liked it. Went ahead and bought another for keeping. Plan on buying 2 from each batch in the future. One for sippin and one for keeping. Figure If I live long enough I'll get around the finishing them all off one day. Or so I hope.

I'm on the 2 bottle theory too with most. especially hard to source bottles. Plus... at Twin Liquors, it's cheaper to buy to. so it's smarter to buy two at each purchase! Justified!

There is about 5 ABC stores within a 10-12 minutes drive of my house. Everyone has Booker's in stock almost all the time. 2 wouldn't really be a problem at $160 for he both of them. But one at a time for $80 sorta helps keep the wife of my back if ya know what I mean. :D

I bought two of each release last year. Opened one almost immediately and sat on the second until the beginning of this year and hosted a 2018 Booker's tasting party. I plan on doing that again - it was a LOT of fun!

Even if not doing that, buying two of each is still a pretty solid idea if you like Booker's. For the ones I really like, I plan to take my time on the backup bottle. For the ones that fall in the middle of my Booker's bell-curve, I open and move on a little quicker. For last year, I ended up getting 4 bottles of Kathleen's Batch :D. Two gone, one opened, and the fourth will be bunkered for a little bit. For 2018, I think that Kathleen's Batch (2018-01) and Kitchen Table (2018-04) will be coveted a bit moving forward. Kathleen's more so. That's just a guess, though.

Teresa's Batch hasn't received stellar reviews, but I think it's pretty dang good. Doubt it'll be held in much regard for most beyond completing the 2019 set, but we'll see. I'll get a second bottle regardless :D.

Oh I hear ya. My wife gives me looks... Not to mention I've got 3 packages arriving this week of previous online scores...

Luckily Bookers is 68/each when buying two here. Just gotta be quick on them.
