So I'm looking for good recommendations for some offroad trails with camp sites along them. I would like to hit Tennessee this time. And just to share some love here is one of my favorites. Harrisonburg VA. 33 west to Switzer Lake Rd. leads to a nice long trail system that has camp sites all along it. Some at creeks all surrounded by amazing forests and mountains. The reservoir there has some awesome fishing too. Stock vehicles shouldn't have any issue at all. Thanks for any replies.

Get US Forest Service maps (available at District Offices) for Cherokee NF in eastern Tennessee, Nantahala and Pisgah in western NC. Lots of dispersed sites along with rustic developed campgrounds. We like those along FS 81 and Santeelah Creek in Nantahala NF.

For isolated beach camping, try Cape Lookout National Seashore along the NC coast. We like Portsmouth Island and the ferry service out of Atlantic (Morris Marina). Figure somewhere around $100 round trip for you and the truck.
