Looking at getting the Mastercraft Courser CXT in the tall and skinny size mentioned above. the Mastercrafts are the twin of the ST Maxx. Currently I am running Toyo OC AT2 in LT265/75/16, good tire but I want to go with 33's. I am on 2" of lift all around and running .75" BORA wheel spacers on stock OR rims. Question is I know the 255's work on 3rd gens but will the cause rubbing with the spacers? Yes the truck will see trail duty but nothing crazy extreme and only 3-4 times a year Also should I expect an big impact on mpgs running a taller, narrower, heavier tire than I am running now? The Toyos are 47lbs so the 255's I am looking at would add around 8 lbs to each corner. Thanks.

Try asking in the 255/8516 thread if anyone is running those tires. I assume they will rub with spacers. You'll never know until you put them on the truck.

Your wheel specs is a huge factor on how much they will rub. If they are OEM/ TRD wheels you should be fine as they are mostly 7.5 wide. Anything wider good luck

You've got the right wheels to run 255s with no issues but I dunno about the spacers. Another consideration is if you have mudflaps up front you'll likely rub those.

I figured the spacers would cause an issue particularly on the mud flaps while steering. Guess I can try it. I liked the spacers, put wheels flush to fenders.

    More than likely.
That combo will poke about 1/8" more than 285/75/16s would without wheel spacers.

Probably on mud flaps right? Oh well if I pull the trigger ill just sell the spacers. I did like how they looked flush to fenders

At 2" of lift you have 1/2" of negative scrub radius due to decreased track width.

A 16x7 et+25 with no spacer will add another 1/2" of negative scrub radius. No bueno on a rwd vehicle.
A 16x7 et+25 with 3/4" spacer will add 1/2" of positive scrub radius. Perfect.

I'd use the spacers and :sawzall: if need be.

No cutting for me, the spacers will come off as the 255/85 go on the stock OR rims

sorry to revive this, but confused on how spacers will cause rubbing. Won't they push the wheels out giving more space between the UCAs? I want to do a 2 inch lift with 255 85 16 and spacers

Picture a “T.” The top of the T is your wheel and the upright part is your “axle,” if you will. A spacer makes the “axle” longer, therefore when you turn the wheel it pivots on a longer line and transcribes a bigger arc, causing it to go farther forward and backward.

Great explanation, I can see now. it SEEMS like that will only induce fender rub, and no cmc will be required but of course no way of knowing for sure until mounting. If no CMC I can handle it.
