So getting a camper just like this but a 2002 model. I've only ever towed smaller pop ups so this will be my first large trailer. I do have the break system, sway and distribution hitch for it. Most of my towing will be local (under 2 hours) a few times a year mostly on flat and or lower grade roads. I won't be filling it too much with stuff, like the fresh water tank or tons of gear. Just probably clothes and bedding stuff. BTW I have a 2019 off road double cab. I'm just concerned that the wait might be a little high I mean the previous owner that I'm getting a from is towing with a 2008 Tacoma and he said he had no issues but I just want to make sure. You should be ok with that trailer. Just take it easy and the truck will do ok with it. My camper weighs in at 4200lbs and my truck handles it nicely

Even adding a thousand pounds loading the trailer up you should be ok, not great but ok. Ask the seller if you can hook it up to your truck and take it for a “test” tow. A little city and a little highway a half hour or so and of course with him accompanying you. That way you’ll get a much better idea what you’ll be dealing with.

We recently bought the same camper except it is an 05 19 foot starcraft. Mine came with the weight distribution hitch as well as the sway control. My 09 tacoma has the brake control in it already. Towed it home and it towed really nice. Only problem I had was a ground issue for the lights. Lost my turn signs. Hoping to load it up and get some use out of it.

You'll be fine. I have a toy hauler and fully loaded I'm right around 5,500 lbs and my truck is totally fine. Especially if you're not loading fully.
