Quick strut replacement

I know this has been covered here before but I’m trying to get some information. I have a 2002 base 2dr 2.7 sr5 and I want to replace the stuts and coils, along with rear shocks. I want to maintain the current ride height. I am leaning towards the MOOG ST8533L/R quick struts for the front and BILSTEIN 24184977 for the rear shocks. Is this the best route to achieve stock height? Any input would be appreciated.

 

How many miles are on the current shocks and springs?

The best way to restore stock height and ride is to use Genuine Toyota springs (for ride height) and shocks (for ride comfort).

Can't comment on the specific shocks to use; springs/coils provide ride height, shocks provide damping.

 

The best ride (but still quite a ways from a Mercedes) would be the 4600 shocks from Bilstein, and perhaps new front springs. I have 95k miles on my truck, and the ride is smooth with those shocks. Just put on my third set. Unfortunately, the washboard roads did a number on the rest of the truck 'cause on anything other than the interstate it sounds like the proverbial bucket of bolts...

 

Is there a quick strut assembly with the bilstein shock? I don’t have a coil compressor.

 

Most vendors have assembly service or buy coil overs pre assembled.

 

I actually have been using the Monroe quick strut setup for many years.
It comes with the Monroe shock and new spring.
For a daily driver like me it works great and Bilsteins on the rear.

The big advantages are Monroe has a lifetime warranty.

So I actually replace my Monroe shocks and springs every 75,000 mile.
Pepboys runs a sale often for an installation of 125.00

So that’s my ticket for a stock setup.
New shocks and springs every 75,000 (free) and labor around 125.00
This along with the Firestone lifetime alignment have been a money saver for me.

All you have to say is the shocks are worn and they warranty the setup at Pepboys.

Tacomas don't have struts. Regardless of what people call them or catalogs say.

Is this a decent ride for the primary on road use? I've installed their complete strut assembly on other vehicles for customers and it was just kinda okay. But for our tacos they ride good? And a lifetime warranty? Sounds pretty interesting to me

 

I love the Firestone lifetime alignment and wheel balance packages. If you plan to keep your vehicle for a long time, they really pay off.

 

For a daily driver its a great setup and a great deal with a lifetime warranty that can be replaced anytime you want, its a little soft in the front, but works well
It’s not for off roading.

 

Sweet, I actually prefer a little softer. These harsh worn out coil overs are..... Harsh.
