Plastidipped the grill today, went a bit light on the first coat on accident so the grill ended up a bit gritty, overall I'm happy with it though.

I'm all for the mods believe me and it's great to share experience here. I'm just following up with what I've seen. There's been aftermarket CAIs that have decreased HP. The TRD may not be one of them.

The reason that I really replied is to let him know the Tacoma already comes with a stock CAI, some owners don't realize this.

I am very curious to learn whether there is a perceivable performance increase. I have been looking at this system myself.

I read a lot of reviews, some people said it did ever so slightly and some said it was a complete waste of money. I did it just to give me something to do one night and I love the way it looks. Next I am going to also do the TRD PRO cat back exhaust. I just like factory parts but there may be aftermarket ones that are better.

This was a good thread on the CAI.

@spin180 They were! I thought that they looked a little big and your comment encouraged me to check my packing slip. They were indeed the XL Offload model. I went online to see if I could exchange the flaps. I had my doubts whether they'd accommodate my request since it was 100% my mistake. I was pleasantly surprised when they said that they would replace them, FoC. (they asked me to take pics of them since they had been installed on the truck.) I paid shipping back to them and they shipped my new ones back to me. I'll be installing them as soon as i get a minute. Anyway, I thought it was pretty funny and I'm pleased that it all worked out. Thanks for the feedback!

That is the operative word in this conversation. I like the subtle sound of my TRD CAI and "IMHO" it's worth the time and expense.

Was looking at my phone when the email notification came through... Scored, and literally the easiest install. And yes, I’ll say it too... Damn these things are bright!

Damn! Makes me wanna move to Waterworld!(Probably wouldn't be safe there either). Guess I'll be checking under the hood more often when I get my truck back. What a mess! Couldn't imagine (don't wanna). But, thanks again; I'm willing to try whatever it takes to prevent a reoccurrence!

Just installed this noise maker under the hood, some say it's not beneficial no HP gain... but the noise it makes between 3500-4000 RPM :)
