If you had two witnesses then I don't see how or why a cop would need to be involved. You take their information and they are contacted by the insurance company.

    Same crap everyone else got
Well I believe in GA, and my case at the time, certain officers can issue citations based on witness at the scene of an accident for things like running a light. Which happened at my accident. This made a pretty clear cut case of who was at fault so there was no back and forth between ins. companies about who did what and who was wrong. But I do see your point about just letting ins. companies figure it out esp if there is a witness, but I'm not stoked about the idea of them trying to pin the blame on the other drivers based on a he said she said thing.

I understand how frustrating a hit and run can be. You want that guy to pay his share and make it right. Some one side swiped my E30 one time and we had some clue as to who did it, but Ill save you the trouble...

The police are way to busy to help your case here. They know insurance will handle it. Just talk with your insurance company, and like I said previously, it should be filed as a uninsured motorist claim. By law this can not affect your rates, and typically it is a cheap deductible.

I was worked up when that person hit me, but sitting there playing detective and bugging the police will not get you anywhere. Just let insurance handle it and move on.

Unfortunately, this is correct. Gotta pick your battles.

That sounds like a different set of circumstances where witnesses came forward, and there was a traffic infraction involved, failure to yield at a red light.

Sounds like the police wrote a report, but didn't conduct an investigation.

Most of the time I don't see the police get that involved.
