Have any of my gen 3 bros or sisters used the pedal commander? Also, if so have you had it for over a year and experienced any strange codes resulting in engine malfunctions? I’ve seen mostly good reviews on this mod but a few red flags as well. Please offer any insight you all have. Thanks!

First thing you need to ask yourself is are you unhappy with how your truck drives/responds. If so, Pedal Commander might help. If you are happy with how it drives/responds. Then you probably don't need Pedal Commander. I fall into that second group. So far after 3 weeks my truck drives/responds pretty damn well. So I am holding off on Pedal Commander.

I'm also in the 2nd group. I can't justify spending money fixing something that ain't broke. :anonymous:

Two guys with '19's telling a guy with a '17 that they don't have problems. That's cool and all, but you DO realize that Toyota updated the ECM calibration a few times - in other words, you got better software in your new trucks.
OP, you can also search for TSB updates on here and decide if you want to go that route.

Selling mine. Used it for 2 years. only time i ever had issues was when i had i in the very aggressive modes, some times it hit the rev limiter and didn't shift... never had an issue in sport mode or lower.

Why are you selling yours if you don't mind me asking? I've curious about these as well. I know this is for a 3rd gen. I'm just a little sceptical about hooking up another computer to my truck to trick it while I'm driving.

I agree, the 19 drives and performs differently then a 15,16,etc. I own a 19 and I am ok with my truck thus far. I have around 1400 miles on mine and to me it seems like it is driving better each time I get behind the wheel of mine

I have a 18 TRD off-road 6MT. Never really had any complaints on how mine drove. I did notice the little dead spot in the throttle. I ordered the pedal commander to see what I thought. I like it, I don't notice the dead spot anymore. I have it on city mode. Made the throttle much more normal.

After i got the TSB done i was satisfied with the throttle response. this would be for people who want more adjust-ability / control ontop of the TSB.

OP, I have a pedal commander I just bought from a 3rd gen guy who loved it but upgraded to the OVTune. It doesn't do much for me with the manual trans 2nd gen, but I haven't experienced any malfunctions even on Sport+ mode. If you are interested it comes with the 3rd gen mount to put it in your dash. I'll link the thread I bought it from.

    No change in mpg.
I have it on city mode and like it. Sport mode is way to touchy for me.
No issues with 1st or reverse. For me with it on city mode it feels more like a normal throttle cable vs the drive by wire.
The Bluetooth is kinda fun. Put it in eco mode while the wife was driving, She thought something was wrong with the truck.
