The 2016 TRD Pro Manual that I posted about sold, but I found a gorgeous 2017 TRD Spirt Double cab 4x4 long bed with auto that I emailed about.

It has 85,000 miles on it - thinking if I pull the trigger that I should get the trans fluid changed?

How are the autos in these Tacomas?

Varying opinions on the trans fluid change interval. I've heard to change between 60-75k miles, or 100-120k miles. If it hasn't been done yet, might be a good idea. Check the service history, you really don't know what that truck has been through...

Yupp - I’d be happy with those features - I looked at Tacomas today, would be extremely happy in a TRD Sport.

My Ram is an open rear diff truck, but I’m betting the Tacoma would be better offroad thsn my Ram.

you say change the tranny fluid. just draining whats in the bottom of the tranny is only a fraction of the tranny fluid in it. a "flush" would be the way to go. would suggest you check with toyota if there is a procedure for flushing this tranny. get it done at a shop that knows what they are doing, not a DIY thing.

Transmissions are one of the things that I refuse to do - Letting the Toyota techs do it for sure.

I’ve been told mixed things about full flushes. Many shy away from them as little particles can clog the lines and lead to failure down the road, and others recommend it to clean it so it’ll be your call. Once your warranty is up if the Tacoma is a CPO, any costs are on you.

I have a sport and love it, I love how it looks with the good scoop. Many don’t use the locking diffs on the off roads so there isn’t much merit besides having it.

85K on a 2017 seems like high mileage. What type of driving was it doing? Are you planning on keeping it for a while?

You can totally change the AT fluid yourself. Many members here do it, even by mistake.

Yupp - I plan on keeping it a long time.

It was registered October 31 2016 - so 31 months old. The mileage is not a deal breaker, I used to put nearly that much on myself.

If it was mostly highway miles, you are probably fine. High miles like that makes it hard to resell later, but if you aren't reselling it any time soon, it shouldn't matter. Make sure the price you are paying reflects the high mileage, though.

Just for future reference so you don't get ripped off, there was no Tacoma Pro in 2016. Make sure you thoroughly test drive before purchasing.

Hopefully you test-drive it a couple times and by then another manual pops up for sale in your area.

How long do the front unit bearings last in these?
