Just created an account, so HELLO ALL Taco people.

Let's get right to the point. I'm looking to upgrade from my stock suspension. I've had my Taco for a little over a year and a half now and it's about time I start making some serious modifications. A few simple mods I've made so far are swapping out the TRD grille to the TRD-Pro grille. Have also installed some sweet rain guards on the windows. My favorite mod so far has been my DiamondBack cover. However, as previously stated it's time to do some big boy things with my Taco. Hopefully y'all can persuade me as to what suspension kit I should look into first? Fox, Icon, Bilstein etc? Or should I piece together my own kit with King shocks and Camburg, Chaos, Icon UCAs etc? Just want to get some ideas so don't assume budget costs just yet. Just want some ideas. Thanks guys and girls.

You're welcome, man! There's a lot to learn and consider. Take your time, and try to absorb it all. It's definitely a lot of information lol.

What are you going to do with your truck?
Head for the mountains or look good cruising pavement? What kind of budget?

I guess the First question you have to ask yourself first is..How much do I want to spend.

I guess between $1000 and $10000 you can find a lot of different options

I'm the weekend warrior type. To be honest though, mostly just look good cruising pavement, however I still want the capability to "head for the mountains" when need be (for my backpacking expeditions, hunting season, etc.) I like ICONS and how they have different stages, but man they can be pricey. I wonder if piecing together my own kit might be the move.

Let's go with $3k, $5k max. (just for suspension)

Honestly, you'll probably be good with Bilstein or OME for under $1500. I wheel my OME lift a good bit and i daily my taco.

That is a healthy budget, I’ll let the 3rd Gen guys fight over what’s the best setup for you.
You can definitely get something good.
If you want the wow factor a lot of people like the kings.

Full kings or icon. They're kinda different in objectives. If you contact Wheeler's Off-road, they can point you in the right direction.

It really is a healthy budget lol. Now that I think about it, it seems a bit much considering other projects I have in mind like LED headlights, a front bumper, new wheels & tires, etc. Perhaps I am biting off more than I can chew hahaha.

If you plan on wheeling, even just maybe once a month, plan for a little armor like sliders and a couple skid plates to protect your ride along with suspension and tires.

That seems like a pretty popular set up right there with the kings and camburg UCAs. Trying to piece together different "kits" and see what the prices are looking like. Luckily I have a buddy who is comfortable with helping me install suspension stuff, so atleast I can take the costs of labor install from an auto shop out of the question.

Nice. You should probably hit up the other PA tacomaworld guys to get some regional specific advice, too.

This might seem like a stupid question, but how do I contact other TacomaWorld members from PA (North East states in general) specifically?
