Are the ones having rust issues from an early batch that had crappy welds or are these the new design with the new welder? I bet those plastic end caps wont keep the moisture out and will cause rust issues down the road.

Next update, sliders have come off.
driver side damage from rock slider.jpg passanger side rust hole.jpg
First image is the damage the driver side slider did, second is a hole and some rust on the passenger side. Week and a half of use with 3-4 mild rain days.
No new response from RRW as of yet.

The longer I follow this thread, the happier I am that I got refunded. This is a mismanaged shit show of an attempt to rush to production without testing, making poor decisions in end product quality and finish, stacked on top of piss poor customer service.

The worst part of all of this is that so many people paid up front before they were even close to having an acceptable product. Eventually, they will run out of money to give refunds and people will be stuck with a trash product.

I just got mine installed last week and had rain over the weekend, so I’ll have to keep an eye out for rust. I initially had some body contact, but was able to adjust it out. I wish I would’ve spent the extra money up front to get other sliders. I’m also kicking myself for not getting refunded before they shipped, but the contact problem came about right as mine finally shipped.

So funny story. I’ve been too busy to install my sliders I received back in.. February. Just got settled into new house. But I noticed the other day that each one of my sliders is a different powder coat. One is a bit more glossy than the other being more matte. Strange. I am planning on installing mine this weekend for sure— at least dry fit to see if I like. I am fairly certain I do not have plastic caps on mine, but I will let you all know in a follow up post with pictures.

I kinda regret buying these because I have read many of you here are having problems and it’s not entirely truthful (IMO) that these are bolt on. (Bolt on and drill.. there’s a difference.) although I have no problem putting a hole in the frame.

However I am fairly happy for the price— and like any abused sliders they will need to be maintained so if there’s a little rust or chippage and wear after awhile so be it. I see pictures with these sliders on Tacoma’s and I think it looks great, so I’ll attempt the install.

But if anyone’s looking to pickup a set of these with no wait times and wants to head within a few hours of Grand Rapids Michigan let me know and I’ll get back to you this weekend lol. Good fair price too.

    Oh wow,

Let me take care of that for you. Sorry just got back from Overland Expo.

Going to bring this back to R&D & management and make sure they're well aware of this. Sorry to disappoint you guys in this new project. I check in with management to see how we can take care of all the issues.

Installed mine tonight, they were missing one set of hardware (not a big deal, 14.00 for grade 8 at the local hardware store) but they missed a brake line hole that I had to drill for a connector and I added a couple bolts on the driver's side. The passenger side was a bit weak.

Installed mine this past Saturday. Easy as pie and they look good, I am happy with these sliders. Yes I was skeptical, since a few posts I read of people having various problems.. but everything is good on mine (minus the slightly different gloss of the powder coat on each). No problems clearing the cab, rock solid they don’t move. We will see how they hold up this summer— I’ve waited until after they stopped salting our roads this past winter lol.

So I bought a cheap high speed drill I could plug into the outlet for 40 bucks.. I just bought a large assortment of grade 8 bolts/nuts/washers on Amazon as well for 40ish too. Didn’t use provided hardware but the bolts that came with my RRW were grade 8. Got some locktight blue. Picked up some high speed steel bits. Also found some old center punches. I would recommend 2 bottle jacks sitting on cardboard, place the slider on it and then tug at the cardboard to move the jacks holding the slider toward the cab. Jack up at the same time to raise it into positions. Get as many bolts as you can on and then start center punch and drilling the rest.

I had to drill 2 holes passenger side at the bottom of the frame. No brake lines or anything each hole took about 15 seconds. Used some rustolium paint and let it dry. Driver side you will undo some bolts holding various things and then put those back but over the rock slider plate. Drilled slower here because of brake lines etc. ended up drilling 2 holes at bottom of frame then 2 more holes on the side of the frame and into the rock sliders, since there were no magic holes to mount to.

If anyone has questions.. feel free to hit me up and I’ll provide more detailed pictures if you want.

For anyone still following along, here's a quick recap

Gen1 - still pictured in first post
Gen2 - added support gussets and a kick-out reinforcement, still pictured on their website
Gen3 - smaller gussets without notch, bigger step plate, plastic end caps, changed to "in-house" fabrication

All orders from late OCT 2018 onward are Gen3 and took six months to start delivering

Gen3 has been plagued with multiple production delays that stem from bringing the fabrication in house

6 of 16 from the previous six month waiting list have reported problems with their Gen3 sliders

Note that no issues have been reported from Gen1 and Gen2 owners

Here's the ones we know about

@JP_Rain - sliders make contact with cab, incomplete welds with holes, insta-rust
@JonesMGMOR - sliders make contact with cab
@dunkshaw - sliders make contact with cab
@Lonelyshadow - sliders make contact with cab, incomplete welds with holes, insta-rust & step plate welded on upside down
@vegangunguy - sliders make contact with cab (was able to adjust out)
    @Longv - incomplete welds with holes, insta-rust

Others from the wait list have reported zero issues so it looks like a gamble if you're here looking to purchase

after reinstalling slider as per rrw instructions three times, i decided to take matter's into my own hands.
used the winch on my 2012 to pull a slight gap between the slider and the pinch weld, enough to put a tow strap behind - and gave it a gentle “nudge” - which gave it the space to not contact the pinch weld. couple parts of rust where the textured powder coat didnt get into i sprayed with a rust neutralizer and some paint (like i do to the ones on mine - that are used)
whilst the plastic end caps dont make us happy - they are aesthetically pleasing 7F604645-3ADD-4B75-A2A9-CC727FA73032.jpgF18001C1-C30A-496D-A2DD-7F1F350C0DE4.jpg A9401829-EF9D-4532-8769-ED29F6807D8A.jpg

    Very minimal responses unfortunately.

These have been off my truck for going on two weeks. It took the same amount of time for someone to respond to me. Finally @RayRRW did beginning of last week, stating they would make everything right. Except I have heard nothing from anyone since... Even with responses to then following up with this. Yet to hear anything today. No idea what is going on or how it can take so long to respond.
