This is a good question and the people scoffing at it need to sign up for Remedial Comedy 101. I've often run two sets on other vehicles, so that once my winters were mounted I could swap them out easily in the spring without visiting the tire shop, and back on again come next winter. I know people who run street and off-road on their jeeps, for obvious reasons.

I don’t always use my seat belt in a crash, and when I don’t I go through the windshield.

Let's just get to a point, TPMS is a government thing so we keep tires at optimal levels for fuel efficiency, having worked at tire shops people will go for that lite on and would let a flashing red or yellow check engine light go for weeks or months before they would get that checked

I've just started running 2 sets of tires, a week with my X3's for the summer and have my Duratracs for the winter. I bought a second set of sensors for the X3 set, and they are working great! I did have to get them shocked by a fellow Tacoma owner at a local KalTire, but working like a charm (20ish minutes after he updated my system). Part number? Not sure. Got them from a dealership telling them I wanted an extra set of TPMS sensors for my 2nd set of Tires.

I have a set of sport wheels off of my 2nd gen with studded snow tires on them. I used them on my 2nd gen when going skiing at the mtn, or when the snow got heavy here for days on end, which is rare. I kept them and will use them on my 3rd gen for the same reasons. No tpms in them, live with the light on for short terms.

its nice to know exactly what each tire is at and if you get a leak on a trail you know about it right away. We have lots of sharp rock trails and I keep the tire pressure on the gage so I know if I slit a tire.
