It's the kinda thing you mock-up out of cardboard and make what works for you. Would be poor manners to get a discount and then allow someone to copy Southern Expeditions work

You make it sound like this is a patented item and I am suggesting stealing intellectual property. It is something anyone can design and build. If no one feels comfortable taking pictures and dimensions I will find it on Pinterest and get the info there. Like rocket stoves and 1000’s of other items they are royalty free designs.

Yes, anyone can design and build it, and you say you have the knowledge and tools to do it. We are buying an off-the-shelf setup for a good discount, but you have the opportunity to make exactly what you need, use cardboard, that was the original plan for this but it was determined it would be cheaper to do it this way.

Here's the rub -- you ARE suggesting stealing intellectual property.

Don't be that guy. Nobody likes that guy.

    Not much, yet.
Tada. If I can make this out of cardboard, so can anyone. My toddler helped me lol.

He's gonna need a certified letter stating you have given him permission to use your intellectual property

I have already moved on and found a design on Pinterest so get off your collective high horses. Took all of 5 seconds. There is a huge difference between patented / protected intellectual property and freeware. This design is NOT patentable. It is not stealing intellectual property. Do your research before you go off accusing someone of stealing when you have absolutely no case whatsoever.

Here, take my intellectual property and run with it. Make it using heavy gauge expanded stainless. Just send me one when you sell your 20th one, then 2% off the top of every one you sell using expanded stainless past 250:

Light. Great air flow. See you on Shark Tank next week. Good Luck!

So how do you get to be a mod on TW? Act like a little douche and get pissy while making accusations which have zero truth to them? Stealing is a crime. Copying a non patentable idea is not. However accusing one of stealing intellectual property when there is no theft is a crime of libel. So Mr Mod you are the only one committing a crime here.

This is a very simple discussion involving intellectual property. I never downloaded one single song off of Napster because I want to make sure the bands I like can afford the keep making music. Same goes for anything that is patentable. Your hard work needs to be protected. Now when talk about ideas that are neither patentable nor substantially different than anything else on the market why do you need your ideas protected? That is where this stove fits in. It is not a design that isn’t found elsewhere or is substantially different than other products on the market.

It was a simple question regarding copying a design. It has turned into an intellectual property discussion which has zero teeth because the design is not proprietary or intellectually substantially different than other designs. This is no different than guys making their own sliders, bumpers or armour. Is everyone losing their shit about that? No because it isn’t patentable any more than this hibachi. So choose to not help if you don’t want to help. But there is no crime, no stealing and no intellectual property in this case.

I am not going to be bullied by a group that doesn’t even know the laws that they are accusing me of breaking while themselves are guilty of libel.

You kinda gotta admit, coming into someone’s group buy thread and asking someone to take measurements and pictures is a bit of a dick move.

If it took you 5 seconds you should have done that instead and not commented in here cause everyone’s...err, your jimmy is rustled.

I like the MOD smack down! The request was, at the very minimum, tacky and uncouth.

So the mods get to make libellous statements? Piss on my shoes all you want. The law is the law. So either remove the libellous comments or send me Bob’s mailing address. Your other option is prove there is a theft of intellectual property and have me sued.

You Mods think you are above the law and get to make up the rules as you see fit. I asked respectfully if someone would get me the information. A simple no would have ended the request with no hard feelings. Yet once you make an accusation and start being a douche the conversation took a turn. So have Bob contact me and we will see how we proceed.

    Paid.

I'm cool with people copying a design for their own personal use. It's another thing to try to sell and undercut someone else's product. Let's all just get along now. And to be honest, I thought about making one, but the group buy was such a good deal.

Thanks OP for setting this up. Great group buy.

Guessing by your avatar I presume you race motorcycles?

Bet you’re the kind of a guy who will goose another riders front brake as you’re alongside them.

Guessing by his name, I presume he used to race. As in “ex.”

And I’m guessing by his photo album that Dennis Nedry is actually still alive, just now in Canada, probably with all the dinosaur egg embryos. The movies lied to us.
