The chrome on the stock badge is very soft. Mine scuffed up nicely just wiping it down before painting. It has held up great since @JimmyRigged88 started this whole deal.

Given how weird the material is, oven cleaner may damage it? You might want to test it on a small parts, like one of the pegs.

yeah i prob shouldn’t even waste money on product to strip the chrome.
i have painted the front emblem on the grill by scuffing and it held up good with only like 2 or 3 chips because it’s outside being inside i think it would be fine i just figured stripping the paint would help it better

The chrome on the grille and interior trim, other than the steering wheel badges is really freaking hard. I tried scuffing the shift boot collar before painting it and couldn't get much. The paint has held one nicely though. I just used alcohol, no scuffing, on the grille and derp'ed it. It has been great for over a year now. I did mess up two spots with drips from my grease guns. That was fixed with some brush on derp:

Any chance these grill emblem covers/replacements will be an option to buy?
And did you find out if it messed with the PCS sensor at all?
    Thanks

I honestly haven't any testing beyond the initial design. I'm confident that anything relatively thin and plastic will be no issue with the radar. I don't see 3d printing as a viable way to make it though. It takes too long, and doesn't stand up to the elements very well.

well painting my emblem didn’t work out too well i scuffed it up with sand papers and it was still kind of rough from sanding and i didn’t like how it turned out after painting.
going to order a new one. but i think the degreaser will take the chrome off because i tried using it on one of the other chrome emblems i had on the truck and it didn’t do anything. i’ll either do that or not even sand it and just prime over the chrome

Sorry, man! But like I said, mine got visibly roughed up just wiping it down. This was my result:

@JimmyRigged88 can hook you up with one of his nice badges though.

That was the thing for me. I had a vinyl sticker on it that partially covered it. Getting it black is something that I have been enjoying on every drive, just like blacking out the rest of the interior chrome. So much better. I call it SR envy.

yeah it’s diff than the door and tailgate emblems bc the chrome came right off when i scuffed it. where the other ones it doesn’t come off at all. i painted the v6 one as i found it in my back seat before i did the airbag one to see how the paint would look and it came out great.

Do you realize that this thread is for the OP to show off and sell his custom steering wheel logos? You would have spent much less time and effort just buying one of his, and wouldn't be clogging up this thread.

thanks captain obvious. the fitment for the 2nd gen was discussed in here as i don’t have a 3rd gen which these are specifically made for.
and a little modification is needed to be done to the airbag which i don’t want to do..
sorry asked a few questions which others have answered and were nice about including the op.
    sorry that you were bothered.

All good my friend. Thread started with me just trying to get rid of the chrome emblem too  plus every time this thread gets bumped I get flooded with orders so I'm cool with it :D

Speaking of getting rid of chrome, anyone find a way to get rid of the chrome door handles? It's the only chrome left on my interior.. other than the key hole

I believe some people buy the SR door handle assembly since they are black plastic.

    Good discussion, IMHO, also.

Here were some links to door handles in another thread with good OT discussion:
