Is it a regular flash or sort of random? Sounds to me like you've got some bad wiring or a faulty switch.

So it does this without you pressing the 4wd button? That's weird.

You may have a bad switch or something.

Okay, technically it's a button, not a switch, lol... but I meant the one on the shifter that engages the 4wd. Given that you have a 2003, I'm assuming that's what you have, not the J shifter type...

It could be that either the button itself or the wiring to it has an intermittent short somewhere.

This is from the 2003 Field Service Manual. Hope it helps.

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
    My 03 at a manual t-case. No push button/switch.

Edit: I miss having the manual t-case. I now have a dial you have to rotate in and out of 4wd. Just doesn't seem right.

Thanks for everyone help. I finally figured it out it was a wire in the harness going to the connector of the transfer case that was pinched almost cut with all these damn pot holes and bad roads we have here im guess all the movement in the harmess kepy going on and off. The frame was swapped few months ago imagine the pinched the harness while transferring everything over

I stand corrected, I thought the j-shifters weren't available after like 2001-2 or something.

Nice, glad you found the solution. Wiring gremlins are never fun.
