My kid just called, he got offered a partnership in a private practice when he graduates next year. I'm a proud bastard. No factory work for him.

Those wildfire firefighters are something else. I worked with a guy that was a Hotshot for a few years. We asked him what they did, he said the Hotshots are the crews that create the firebreaks.

They hustle downwind from the fire through the terrain with chainsaws and spare gas bottles, axes, water and their other gear, start cutting a firebreak. Then often proceed to run like crazy further downwind if firebreak.1 gets breached. If the firebreak works, they go right back in and go to work again, putting out spot fires.

Gotta admire those Hotshots. I think those are the guys you see sacked out on the ground fast asleep, so exhausted from firefighting they don't even bother to take their gear off, they just curl up and go to sleep.

Loaded the truck (8 - 55 gal trash back, and cardboard) and ran to the dump first, then came back and made the debris run, then came back from that, pressure washed the trailer, then got on the garden tractor and mowed the 1.75 acres of the green stuff that grows on it. Had a lot of drinks that night.

Sunday, could barely stand upright, so I forced myself to get off the couch so I could go out and prune the holly bushes out at the back deck (filled the 55 gal trash can 4 times), then ran to the nursing home, then to Costco, then came home and made dinner.

This is why when I play, I play very hard!!!

Edit - And I was sick all weekend with a cold or something but didn't mention it because well, WAHhhhh! Who wants to hear that crybaby shit?!

There's an excellent movie out based on the true story about a crew. I could never do it. I am too soft.

I hauled water to a forest fire we had awhile back. We'd dump it into a big pond and helicopters with buckets would come down and scoop it up. It was awesome watching those guys on the ground. They'd get drenched by the choppers and just keep on chopping.

I took 3 years of it in high school. Mostly because the teacher was smokin' hot. I do okay reading or writing it but can't follow a spoken conversation very well. Dos cervezas por favor works in any situation so screw it.
