I drove one of them on Saturday on a field trip and I swear it took me like 2 minutes to get the thing up to 40 miles an hour it does run once you're up to 65

I tell you though they got a blue bird from 1983 as a backup bus and that's one running son of a b**** you can spin the tires in the rain in that thing

 

the only thing that sucks is that only a select number of people can drive it because it's got a 3-speed manual transmission I wasn't supposed to drive it but I was just moving it around

Probably manufactured back when the speed limiter was a bolt below the gas pedal that you could just shorten. Things were simpler back then

the funny thing is is during the winter time when it's colder than 30° none of the new buses run right so everybody has to go and drive the older buses because they run like a champ in cold weather

 

Are you doing the math correctly? I know a bunch of people use their trip meter even though it's off with bigger tires. I use a GPS for speed and miles traveled.

 

Somebody needs to let me borrow a grand that way I can get some 4:88 gears and I can have OverDrive again

 

Id request to drive that one with the 3spd full time if i worked there. Would be fun to try to row some gears with the chaos of 30 kids in the back

it's a pain in the ass the overhead lights are a b**** to operate and it's uncomfortable it's got to steel seat with like half inch thick foam padding on it

 

And that steel seat isn't on air ride or anything it's like it's bolted directly to the frame of the bus

 

Honestly not sure buddy. I regeared to 4.88s and have 295/70/17s, so i always multiply the miles driven by .86 since my speedo reads 14% faster than it should.

I found a thread somewhere on here for calculating actual mileage after regearing. I went with that, and ever since my mileage has been 14.8-15.8 consistently

 

have you tried driving next to somebody with stock tires and seeing what speed are going what speed you're going
