My truck had an abs light yesterday on the way to work. It just popped on as I was driving, no catalyst I can think of. After shutting down and starting again it was gone, and it hasn't cone on again.

Even though the light is off, would whatever error code that caused it to light remain in memory somewhere? I'm trying to find a place to read it but the first three auto parts stores either claim a broken reader or a basic reader that can read only engine, not brake codes.

I just want to know the error code so I can try to understand what happened and ponder whether something is going south.

You'll have to go somewhere with a scan tool that is a little more in depth than a basic code reader that reads engine codes. Sometimes the abs codes get stored.
