hate to break it to you but you won't find one for less than 200$ that's even worth taking off the sidewalk.

quality of components. it'll fall apart every time you ride. had a buddy take his mongoose out with us at monte sano and every 30ft he had chain issues. bike sucked arse.

I have a 350$ bike only because I got it half off at Dicks. that's about the best you'll find anywhere for a bike that'll at least ride but not be great.

I would recommend that. to get started though I'd check Dick's or a local store for sales only for an entry bike, and like they said check CL and FB for deals. I fully expect to spend around 1k on my next bike that's why I haven't got another yet lol

Can confirm. Bought a $200 Walmart bike some time ago just to test the waters. On my 2nd ride, bolts on my stem came loose and so my handlebar was free to rotate back or forward which I found very unsettling since I was flying downhill at the time.

It's worth investing a few hundred dollars more for a quality brand. Besides the quality (and thus safety), they'll be more durable so last longer, and retain value better so can be turned around and sold again if you decide it isn't for you.
