i have a trd skid, i bought used.
it came with the front and middle bolts and spacers.
reading the instructions from toyota it gives a spec for the rear bolts as m8-1.24x35 mm.
i bought the flanged bolts (dorman 980-435)
and it sure feels tight. like no go tight.
is this hole needing to be tapped with a m8-1.25 tap??

If you have the correct bolt with the correct thread pitch and it goes in tight, then yes, it needs to be tapped.

Might not be the right bolt. I'd go try a bunch of bolts and find what fits. If the threads in the hole don't look messed up, you probably have the wrong bolt

This is good. Now OP doesn’t have to tap it alone.

If the threads are bad you can use a 1/4 ×20 bolt and a nylon lock nut.

Damn man, did you get an answer?

I think m8 bolts are available in (1.25) course, fine (1) and possibly extra fine (.75)

Maybe the guys in the Canada forum would be able to answer it, since they speak metric there.

Good luck, and looks like you have a good sense of humor...

    Cheers
