Spray a heavy and thick layer of plasti dip on it and then while it’s still wet, throw handfuls of glitter on it.

Where I live the Water Company uses Tacoma's for meter service work and all of them are full of the old water meter and valves and bounce all over the place and get treated like crap and the beds and look like they are holding up just fine.

I've read way more comments on this site than I ever thought imaginable in the past 10 years, this is the first failure I've ever read about. I definitely believe you, but I don't think it's common at all. I have had composite beds now 15 years since it originally came out. I'm on my second truck with it, and I would never worry about it one bit. They've been wonderful for me.

Most people don't slide full size oxygen cylinders into a Tacoma. Slid the cap into the corner of the wheel well and it cracked. That's why I say if your moving pipe or really heavy stuff. I just pushed it and let it's momentum slide it where it took it, unfortunately straight into the wheel well.

You should see the tech service video for repairing them. It's laughable

2004 was the last metal bed.

While you are just now disappointed, it has been 15 years...........

Another case of not paying attention during the purchase process? Wait till you notice it doesn't have power seats or a hot juke box.

There should be two. One is for dent pulling. The other is for welding in pannels. I can't remembered if they bumped uglies with Lincoln or Miller for it. But it was just not good.

As an aerospace welder, ex pipe welder and generally handy in metallurgy, it's going to result in lots of cracked pannels down the line.

But then again it's Ford so....

Can't find it on YouTube. Might be in the depths of reddit. I'm sure Ford yanked that down as soon as they could.

But this is basicslly what they're asking the average body guy to do to repair it. And truth be told, if they can flawlessly do this every time and fabricate those pannels, they'd be welder not body guys. Haha. No offense to the body guys, it's a great skill. The ceiling is just so much higher for people who can od precision welding

Yeah the pulling part is fine. It's the welding part that's laughable. Not to mention the more you work aluminum, the harder and more brittle it gets which leads to tearing and cracking. On a long enough time line, all aluminum fails. Just ask road bicycle guys. It has xxxx amount of hits and then it's done.

I'll take the composite bed over aluminum any day, even though I could repair it in my sleep. I'd rather have composit and just not have to worry about it.

For the record, that is not true at all. I've had my bed linexed since I bought it in 2009 and its held up beautifully. I've attempted to beat 7 shades of shit out of the bed too with transmissions, engines, logs, lumber, etc., etc.. If your linex dealer knows what they are doing, there will be no problems. Perhaps other stuff won't, I can't speak to that, but linex sticks and it's a excellent compliment to the composite bed.

I’m actually a hard core cyclist and that is absolutely true. One of the many benefits of carbon frames.

I like the composite bed as well. I don't know why a steel bed would be better.:notsure:
