I've taken my truck to the Jeep Shop of Chester Springs for my inspection every time. Your tires could stick out a foot and they will pass it. Also I highly recommend them for installing any mods for your truck. I've had numerous things done by them including my cab mount chop, body lift, and suspension lift. They do an amazing job with fair pricing. My body lift they quoted me at $950 to have put on because it was suppose to only take 12 hours. It ended up taking them 30 hours to put it on because they ran into problems. They only charged me an extra 200 for 30 hours of work! Very fair pricing there. The shop is probably 50 mins from you I'm assuming.

Did a 1” body lift on my truck a few years back. Total cost was under $200 for the parts and we did it in about 4 hours or so in a driveway.

I had the 3 inch by performance accessories installed. That body lift is very complicated compared to a 1 inch. A lot of cutting and extending that I was not confident in doing. If it was a once inch I would of considered doing it myself.

Your truck is not as top heavy compared to a suspension lift. Your raising just the body so the heaviest parts of the truck, which is the engine and frame are not moving up unlike with a suspension lift. I have a combined suspension and body lift so mines a different story.

However, if your just doing a 3 inch body lift and not a suspension lift then your cab mounts are not moving up. You can fit bigger tires I guess, but not much bigger unless you get the alpine relocation mounts I would think. I think body lifts are more effective when stacked with a suspension lift.

For me it allows more room to clock the FJ case 10°.
Also, since I’ve done it working on anything underneath the truck has become a whole lot easier with that extra inch of space.
I have a 1 inch body lift and then I have a 2 1/2 inch suspension lift. That, combined with 35’s, makes for a very capable off road setup.

A body lift is a very economical way of gaining a little bit of clearance for larger tires without messing with any of the stock components.

Honestly, a stock Tacoma is quite capable off road without any modifications.

All of the shit that I’ve done just makes it easier. ;)
