I have a F150 too and have installed the first stage of my bed install. I just rolled back into town after picking up my refurbished GFC in Belgrade. I'll post some pics soon.

    ...too much shit to list.
^^What he said. Most of us use a soft strap to avoid the inevitable tripping and falling and lack of butt seating space with a hard handle.

I cut off the end of a maxtrax leash and just ran one of the stock screws through it. But any lashing strap will work.

I like that idea better than the hoop, always can rely on TW for a better option. Thanks!

    The butt seating is key

I have a stock Tacoma TRD Off Road and was wondering if stock suspension is fine with this camper in full time?

Also, anybody parking it in the garage - seems it just might fit?

I can't speak to stock suspension because I upgraded my TRD OR to handle the increased weight of the camper, camping gear, and front/rear steel bumpers. However, mine fits in my garage with a 2.25" lift. It only has a couple inches of clearance.

That pulldown is super legit! How can I get one? If you made a batch with the bracket, strap, and all, I would bet you would for sure sell them all. Im in for 1!

Thank you. Would be nice to park in the garage. I will take some measurements but sounds like it might work.

Ran mine with just 5100s for a few months, but ended up going to Deaver. One extra leaf was enough to take care of a load on the back

    ***CHECK YOUR HINGES OUT!***

Opened my driver side door yesterday and heard a loud crack. The plastic "hinge" cracked nearly all the way from the front to the back. The strut in the back pushes against that upper back corner, so now the door does not latch closed at all.IMG_9842.jpg
    Image-1.jpg

Ended up running a couple ratchet straps around the entire GFC to get home without the door open. Luckily wasn't while on a trip, but this is now the 3rd failure my GFC has had in the time I've had it since July.

Anyone else seen this on their GFC?
Anyone have a guess at what kind of plastic the hinge is made of?
Maybe some kind of better material as a replacement?

What suspension/lift did you go with?

I was on the fence for a while but after reading a couple of posts about buyers remorse and having to upgrade I just went with the best for my needs. I ended up buying an ADS level 3 kit (2.5" coilovers, adjustable remote reservoirs, and OME heavy duty dakars). I've put 10k miles on it and it rides well with my GFC, sliders, and steel front and rear bumpers. I do need to add some shims to remove some vibrations at 25 mph.

Has anyone here experienced quite a bit of rust in the slide latches that open/lock the tent? I opened mine for the first time in two months (out of country, work, etc) and it was a really big struggle to get it loose enough to finally open. I was pulling hard enough to the point of being scared I was going to shear it off completely. Any suggestions besides to lubricate with wd40?

Yes I have seen rust in mine as well, I put dry lube in but haven’t been able to clear out the rust completely.

I also don’t have the grade 8 hardest like everyone else, and I have a lot of rust on every bolt I’ve pulled out.

Are these bolts inside the frame of the camper?

Yes, specifically the two holding the back of the tent down over the tailgate.

All of my bolts that hold the GFC down to the bed track have rusted as well.

I’m going to end up replacing all the bolts with ss or the grade 8 hardware, but I’m concerned about the rust inside the actual frame now

Perhaps galvanized bolts would work. They wouldn't be Grade 8 but probably strong enough. Replace with galvanized, coat heavily with something better than WD40, like CorrosionX and call it good.
    Weathering Steel
When galvanized bolts are used on weathering steel, the zinc will initially sacrifice itself until a protective layer of rust develops on the weathering steel. Once this rust layer develops, it forms an insulating layer that prevents further sacrificial action from the zinc. The zinc coating has to be thick enough to last until the rust layer forms, usually several years. Most hot-dip galvanized bolts have enough zinc coating to last until the protective rust layer develops on the weathering steel, with only a minimal loss in coating life.

Do you leave in a cold location....meaning really cold winters?
