I have a 3rd gen TRD Pro and I'm looking at wheel cleaners and sealants.

Is a dedicated wheel cleaner necessary? Do most guys just use their car wash soap?

If I were to use a sealant say, once a month, what am I doing weekly between the applications during routine washes? My worry here would be removing the wax/sealant by using soap or a cleaner. Is it better to just rinse and scrub with water?

I typically use my car soap in most cases. If I am getting a heavy build up of break dust I will use a dedicated wheel cleaner. Products like Iron X are extremely helpful with break dust.

Don’t waste your time on a wax it will not live on a wheel. Too much heat being generated and it will evaporate off

Thanks. What is your take on sealants on wheels?

You should be able to get a month out of most sealants or the polymer type waxes (FK1000p, Soft99 Fuso...) easy. The spray on blast off products like Hydro Blue or Hydro2 shoud last about a month on wheels, application is simple but will be more expensive. Plenty of wheel coatings out there too.

If you clean more than once a month you shouldn't need a dedicated wheel cleaner and this is without using a sealant. With a sealant cleanup will be even easier to the point a pressure washer will do all the work.

Better off with a sealant. If you are up to it a coating would be even better.

I just wash the wheels then a couple sprays of Optimum Opti-Seal and dry, good till the next wash. Careful with the Pro wheels they mar with ease.
I'm disappointed with the amount of brake dust I get on the front wheels. One trip and there covered.

I use a sealant. Colonite 845 insulator wax and sealant. Even with wheel heat and South Carolina heat the sealant seals em up pretty well. They bead water for months and makes touch up a breeze.
