Was wondering if anyone has tried replacing their Stock (Base Model) Steering Wheel with a different Stock Steering wheel (one with music controls) in an 05 Tacoma. If so, did you have to add new wires to connect to the speakers- or were they hidden behind the dashboard already?

I’m slowly trying to modernize my ‘05 Taco 4x4 and customize it to something I can see myself keeping until the motor finally gives up.

You will have to replace the spiral cable with one that has steering wheel controls. You will also need to wire the interface harness to a aftermarket stereo for the controls to work. A factory stereo may or may not have the plug for steering wheel controls. I know the stock JBL stereo is but unsure about the base stereo
