Just talked to the bro in law. He said traffic heading up the 17 wasn’t bad at all. Lighter than he expected. He was in Black Canyon city at 4:45

As long as you don't look from this close you'd never know there was paint missing.

    It was awesome!

Well worth the drive, we didn’t leave until 0730 and got there before 1100. It wasn’t very busy until 1300!
We did the drive loop then ate in the picnic area and did the walk loop. Gift shop bla bla bla, did the drive loop again before we headed home.
Inlaws and cousins followed us up there but left before us.

I would recommend getting there early if possible. It seems noon is the busiest time of the day. Talked to the owner as he was directing parking and he said they are expecting 800ish cars which is double the number of cars normally and possibly 1000ish tomorrow.

I remember there was a bunch of cooler talk a while back. Today’s trip convinced the boss we need a new cooler!

I have a Pelican cooler sitting on my Amazon list but not sure if it’s worthwhile.

What’s the best bang for your buck cooler wize? Need one that sit at/below the bed rail mounting channel.

That's still a solid price. I was super hesitant to buy one but I'm really glad I did.
Couple things with the 30qt. The basket takes up a lot of room but it's handy. The 5lb ice pack is massive and eats up a ton of the 30qt. RTIC makes a couple smaller 1-2lb ice packs that are a lot better for the 30qt. I use the 5lb to pre chill before I head out camping but usually don't bring it especially if I'm using the basket

I just got an Rtic 65. Haven’t used it yet. This weekend was supposed to be the maiden voyage. It looks like it would clear the rails. Other would know better. It appears to be lower than my arb
