To keep this thread short, my Tacoma has the older tailgate that, unsurprisingly, has warped. I’m getting the truck repainted in a couple weeks and would prefer to order a new tailgate for replacement. Does anyone have experience with the $300 ones off of eBay? I’ve looked at pre-owned OEM, but people are asking almost double the price. Thank you!

I’ve never seen any complaints from anybody that bought one, but I bet you get a lot of conjecture warnings from people who don’t like the idea of eBay body panels.

Your body shop can also source tailgates through their vendors, as another option, if you feel comfortable going that route.

l personally would try to source a good used one over an unknown quality Ebay tailgate. At least you know what you're getting. That $300 you're talking about saving could end up being a real pain if you get a substandard tailgate.

They can prep the tailgate when they are prepping the rest of the truck.
