    New (to me) 4x4 DCSB SR5 V6 with 75k

I have noticed a couple times that a rotating metallic type noise is coming from driveline (I think)

This only happens at low speeds when on switchback roads. Wheels never at full lock when it happens but I've never noticed it on straightaways.

Strangely enough, this issue has happened only twice separated by week's but it happened on the exact same road where I first heard it.

Have out thousands of highway miles on it and never heard it once.

It sounds to be coming from the rear of the vehicle and sounds like it happens on a rotating basis maybe driveshaft.

Things I've considered but want other input:

    CV joint
    U joints
    Carrier bearing
    Rack and pinion
Wheel bearing (almost have it ruled out)

    Thanks TW

If it is the carrier bearing many times you can just look at it and see if it's damaged. If it's the wheel bearings from what I've seen on here it should sound more like a dull grinding sound, or loud road noise. Sorry I cant help much. Good luck!

Baja13, could you describe your issue? I am trying to get a sound clip next time it happens

Last night I went to an empty lot and locked the steering wheel fully out both ways and went in circles and it made no noise. I would imagine that means CVs Are OK

I’ve got a clicking noise that goes with each rotation of the tires. So it speeds up as I apply more gas and slows as the truck slows or when I apply the brakes. It’s supper faint and I can only hear it when I have the windows down. It’s been going on for a couple years now and hasn’t gotten any worse so I haven’t given it too much attention yet other than having some mechanics take a look at it but they have trouble hearing what I hear.

Does your noise come and go? It sounds very metallic and it rotates with the tires? Mine has done it twice both on the same switchback paved road with a couple thousand miles in between on similar roads. Mine is LOUD though. Loud enough to hear with the windows up.

Mine doesn’t seem to ever go away. I can only here it at lower speeds unless I drive by a wall or building that amplifies the noise and directs it back towards me
