Recently got a wireless charging compatible phone. I googled wireless charging in Tacoma’s but for some reason my 2018 SR5 isn’t equipped with it. Anyone know of any mods to place a wireless charger in the area under the AC controls? Anyone input would be appreciated

I can’t help you with a retrofit, but I have it in my Taco, and it’s just meh. Keep the cable, it actually charges. My qI pad adds like 5% juice in maybe 45 minutes. Maybe the XR phone is just slow but still, meh.

I have it in mine and I agree it is "meh".. I consider it to more maintain the battery vs charge it when streaming bluetooth audio, etc.. It's ok and convenient, but definitely not relying on it to charge the battery..

I use my Qi all the time with my Xr with no charging issues at all. I dig it.

I’m not saying there are issues, just that’s it’s slow, and the wire is faster.

I rarely use it. Works fine but I have a magnet in my case and have to take the case off for it to work. Easier and faster to just use a wire.

I really wanted it to work for me. I’ve decided it’s better in the house because it makes kids put that shit down while it charges. Forced breaks!

+1 for no issues with mine. Doesn't charge as quickly as a fast charger cable would, but I get decent charge on it, about 30ish% on my 20+ minute commute generally (think non- fast charging cable speeds). I have heard many people complain about the stock one but I think that's largely the phone and/or case preventing it from working in those cases.

The OP asked if there was a retrofit for his SR5, I personally am not sure about the wiring but I assume the part would fit that hole once you are able to remove that cubby, I believe they should be the same size.

Ditto. I prefer a cleaner look with no cables.

The stock wireless charger is garbage. Don't bother with that upgrade.

Same as everyone else, it just makes my phone hot. I would just use a wire. Also, wont charge through a case. It just holds my sun glasses now.

While I agree that it won't fast charge, as a lot of Samsung owners are accustomed to, mine charges through my Otterbox defender case just fine. Sometimes gets hot, but that doesn't happen often.

Rok wireless. It's the company that supplies the wireless chargers to all the boat builders. The different models.
