As the description says, I've got an S8 that is connected to Baja Designs harness https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/onx6-s8-xl-pro-sport-harness-2-light-max-150-watts.asp

The harness baja designs sells includes the connectors, relay, in-line fuse and a very basic on/off switch.

I've spliced out the in-line fuse and connected to my blue sea fuse block, and I've cut the on/off switch out as I am going to be wiring it to this MicTuning Switch I got on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2WrL5Uv

    https://imgur.com/nRGDNfM

My question is how will those red/black wires from the Baja Designs harness be attached to the MicTuning switch?

The two wires running to the switch on the BD wiring harness will run to GREEN and RED 1. You’ve got a 50/50 shot of getting the order right because one is coming from power, and one goes out to the light bar.

If you get them backwards nothing will break. The only reason it matters is because the switch will light up when you turn the light bar on. If you mix them up the switch will stay lit up.

BLACK goes to ground. Anywhere works, there’s a bolt behind the kick panel I use for that.

RED 2 you can leave not wired up at all, or use an add a circuit and tap into the TAIL fuse. This will make the switch light up when you turn your dash lights on.

    In case anyone is wondering:

Red from harness goes to green on switch
Black from harness goes to red1 on switch

The 40" S8 harness I'd purchased comes with 2 switches. Main toggle switch has red, black and yellow. The other switch comes with green and black.

After I cut off the 2 switches, there are total 4 wires. Green, yellow, red and black.

I'd tried many different combinations to connect to Caliraised OEM switch but still can't figure out. Burning a fuse during the process.

After going through almost all the related threads, it seems like every other BD harness has different wires.. :(

    Help me out :hattip:

It sounds like you have the 640122 harness. The main switch has three wires, that turns the light on/off. Red is 12v constant power, yellow is for the load/accessory, and black is ground for the indicator LED. The amber back light switch has two wires, green and black. Black has 12v constant power and Green is for the load/accessory. I did a quick google search on the Cali raised OEM switch, this is what I found.

    upload_2020-4-29_9-1-34.jpg

Let me know if you have something different.

Left column is BD harness, right column is switch wires.

    Main Switch Wires

RED - Green (12v constant power source with inline fuse)
    YELLOW - Red 1 (Accessory)
BLACK - Black (Ground for indicator LED)

Red 2 will be hooked up to a switched power source behind the dash. This way when you turn on the ignition, the back light turns on. Some guys will use a add-a-fuse.

    Amber Back Light Wires

BLACK - Green (12v constant power source)
    GREEN - Red 1 (Accessory)

Red 2 will be hooked up to a switched power source behind the dash.
Black will need to be grounded behind the dash (Ground for indicator LED)

    Hope this clears everything up!

What am I doing wrong...:confused:
    It's still not working.

    1) The fuse is blurry but it is in good condition with no sign of burns
    20200429_132025.jpg

    2) Ground and relay secured
    20200429_132039.jpg

    3) Yellow - Red 1
    Red - Green
    Black - Black

    Still not working..

*I left green out because I won't be using the amber backlit.. at least for now*

Do you mind sending the schematic from the switch manufacture? Is your harness grounded out on that bolt next to the relay or the battery?

The ground is attached to the bolt next to the relay.

I am about to do this exact same thing with the same harness. Did you ever get it resolved?

I personally ran my s8 green wire tapped it in with my raptor lights which are tapped and fuzed by the oem fuse for the headlights amber reflector corner bulbs and now my oem switch turns on and off my s8 back lights and raptor lights all together as a normal nighttime running light

Did your switch completely not work? I'm having the same issue however the backlighting on the switch lights up, which makes me think the switch is fine...

    Hello everyone!
Finally recieved my S8 BD 20" Light bar with the Harness that comes with it, 2 switches just like the one mention above. Since I have a SP 9100, I would like to bypass the relay and find the best way to wire up my back lighting.
Can someone help me figure this out? Greatly appreciate!!

Okay guys I am doing the same install and I think I understand where everything is supposed to go....but where exactly are you supposed to hook up the extra stuff for the backlight? Baja is always a bit vague in their description.

    Thanks!

So we have two different answers here.

    -
Red from harness goes to green on switch
Black from harness goes to red1 on switch

    and

    -
RED - Green (12v constant power source with inline fuse)
    YELLOW - Red 1 (Accessory)
BLACK - Black (Ground for indicator LED)

Red 2 will be hooked up to a switched power source behind the dash. This way when you turn on the ignition, the back light turns on. Some guys will use a add-a-fuse.

    Can anyone confirm which works?

    Hello,
So I also have the harness 640122.
I also want to hook the back light amber to my raptor lights or even my fog lights.
I’m understanding that I cut off the switches and then the green wire goes to the hot on the fogs or raptor.
And follow the diagram in 5th post for the additional wiring?

Yep, green wire to whatever you're tapping. Just my opinion as someone who has raptor lights. I don't think both would look good together but your truck, your choice.
