2017 trd offroad DRL

I thought all 3rd gen tacoma trd models had the white led drl's on the outside of the headlights. Why does this truck have the amber ones like the 2nd gens? Did they only start the led ones in 2018? Can somebody clarify this for me?

 

The DRLs can be turned off, and parking lights turned on.
Also make sure it's the correct model, and not just wearing a sticker.

Sorry, I need to make a correction;
I just got done washing my truck, and thought I'd try this.
while I can turn off my LED DRL's, they stay on with the parking lights. And my parking lights are on the outside of the group, that inside amber is blinker only.
So I think your gut is right, if you're questioning if this truck is really a TRD. I'm not sure exactly what trims the LED DRL's come on, but it is the premium models.

 

I think what is happening with this truck is that they had the hazards on while taking the pics. Notice the turn signal is lit on the side view mirrors. Sound logical?

 

The video of it on the website has the hazards on, so you're right on that.

My 2016 has the LED DRL's, but they have to be turned on with the switch on the stalk. They are not on all the time like most DRL's.

 

Also, the DRL’s will turn off when E brake is applied.

I would still caution though. I'm wondering if previous owner did some hookey-dookey wiring or mod, I cant for the life of me think why a dealer would try to time photos, so all flashing lights are on, in all pics. Not that hard, but still, my mind is asking why? Who knows. I'd think the white LED DRL's would be more of a draw, then mirror lights, old school amber in front, and standard tail lights.

i would notice if it was a fake in person. It better have a crawl control knob! I was just inquiring about the leds

 

Oh, gotcha! I'm sure they are there...just not turned on.

 

I'd still go check it out, but it is kind of strange me, it could be a gem.
