My pump went out at about 150k. Quite a bit of idling and going down to e probably didnt help. Now I keep her 1/2 tank or higher at all times.

I just don't see taking the chance of running out of fuel , or of possibly burning out a several hundred dollar fuel pump for no reason. Yes, it may never fail because of heat. But since I have to gas up anyway, why not do it a bit earlier and avoid the whole potential problems. Besides getting stuck behind a accident on the highway far from a gas station with not much gas, is stress that I'd personally like to avoid.

    But that's me. :D

It probably took you longer to post this than to stop for gas.

You have approx 4 gals left when the light comes on. Assuming its not broken which can happen at any time.

150 miles is pushing half a tank for me.

I guess the OP only had enough interest to ask his question. But not enough to respond to it or to update it.
    Go figure!
