For anyone who just might read this taco story... Hello to the world of Tacos. My name is Blake Haley. I own silver 2002 2.7l access cab rwd. I’m the second owner of the truck. I bought the truck in from a old man off a farm in frierson Louisiana with 96,765miles. Taco now has 336,543miles on him. He has been over 7 mountain passes an took my honeymoon to break Colorado at 329455miles, a very dumb idea. A time that was. And that’s where taco started the down hill cycle of his surgeries. The honeymoon was awesome, not so much for taco, harmonic balancer pulley half moon key exploded. For anyone who knows the importance of the stabbing of a harm balancer pulley then you know the depth that the pulley seats into the key way cut out key. Ridiculous. The oil pan was pulled the cranks was inspected an the key way destroyed the cut int the crankshaft. It’s 31 degrees in the parking garage at beaver run resort at 8 in November. Hahaha! Found a harm balancer pulley in Colorado Springs rented a 3/4 ton express van. 4 hours later time to go to work. My plan is simple don’t elf this up! Drop the pan clean Get out any parts an restab. The new half moon key was coated with jb weld along with the entire harm balancer pulley id. Stabbed it torqued it put pan back on went to sleep woke up to start our drive back to Shreveport la. Made it!! Broke down one week later balancer blew up again I was wondering how long it was going to take the heat!! So I had his motor board over 1 crank slightly machined a longer key slot in the crank an went with a longer key to grab more of the harm balancer pulley. What a difference it was on the reinstalling. The key is a mild metal. Put a certified 100k mile pressure tested A340E it him an we were back off. So far so good.. now down to the point. Two weeks ago I put the a/c back in it I put new o rings in all fittings including new expansion valve. Put the belt new tension pulley on an checked the oil in compressor. Alls good Charged blows cold. Go to drive the truck the truck starts to shift slightly ruff. The o/d button does work the ect powers button light doesn’t come on an There a code P1783 on the neutral safety switch. I’ve tested the solenoids ohms they all 3 read 13.7 at 17psi. New fluid the neutral safety switch harness is in good shape there is no flaw in any wires. Now for the entire life of the truck the check engine light has been on reading a bad down stream o2 sens. I have monitored the computer an mileage for the life span went from 21 mpg to 17 mpg. Did not feel any loss in power what so ever. What in the jklmnop has happened to my overdrive!! ???
