Drove my 2012 SR5 for about 6 hours the other day and I noticed my stereo was quite hot to the point I felt something was wrong, I don't have the navigation screen, just the standard radio. Anyone else notice this?

My aftermarket headunit heats up on long road trips, it used to worry me but I have an extended warranty and i was told it’s normal. Not sure if that helps you out tho, maybe someone else can chime in

Mine is just the stock radio, and I don't live in a warm climate so it wasn't sunlight making it this hot

CDs feel hot when they are ejected from my stock head unit, but I haven't been able to feel the stereo directly since it's buried under all those plastic covers. I assume if the CDs are hot then the stereo is also hot.
But I am more curious why my ignition key gets so warm... not hot, but unusually warm. It's not like there's much current going through the switch, mostly it just triggers relays etc. Right?

You could pull the unit and the glove box. Check to see if any of your AC piping is not connected. Otherwise run her till she pukes. My CD player in my original 2008 friend after about 6 years. Replaced it and have never had a problem since.
