To all my Alabama brothers: Any good rappelling spots in Talladega NF that someone could recommend? I'm wanting to teach someone to rappel and need a rock face no taller than 15'-20' to begin with. I've been up in the NF years ago to explore but am not familiar enough with the area to know of any spots.

Not asking anyone to give up any secret spots just need a small rock face with some solid natural anchors up top. You can PM me if you prefer.

    Thanks in Advance.

You should check out Cherokee Rock Village. It's got everything from mild to wild, and not that far from TNF. It has dozens of anchored climbing routes. It's a climber/rappeller's dream spot for around here!

Thanks brother. I just checked it out online and it looks like a pretty cool place. Only downside is it looks like it would add an extra hour to my drive each way.

Im still hoping to find something in TNF.

You could go to the top of Chinnabee Silent trail, where it intersects the Pinhoti and there are tons of climbing spots up there as well.
