If you want to go offroad, or adventuring, or like modding, or parking downtown, Tacoma is the clear winner.

For comfort, truckish capability, and drivability, the F150 all day long.

I have both in my driveway. I would not even consider taking the F150 where I take my Tacoma, because it simply would not make it, and get totally trashed on even light trails. However, the F150 is an exceptionally nice vehicle to drive on the road. Mine has the 2.7 EB which is a killer power plant. So much chooch outta that little V6!! It’s amazing actually.

The F150 is boring as fuck to look at and no one even notices it’s there. Might as well be invisible. My Tacoma is cool and people love it.

I respect the F150. I love the Taco.....something about it.

In this Country if you want a new Tacoma Access Cab Manual, you are stuck getting a Sport.

    Fixed^^

Don’t do the Tundra. These F150s are so fuel-efficient, powerful, and feature rich for the money, that the Tundra really is a dinosaur in comparison. I get to drive a Tundra occasionally for work and there is no comparison between EB power, drivability, and efficiency and the Tundra. I am a Toyota fan at heart, but that Tundra’s gotta go. It’s a cheese that is not improving with age. I can’t believe they still make it actually, being so far behind the other offerings.

Avoid the EcoBoost and get a v8 if you go with the F150

I just bought my tacoma a week ago and this was the exact decision I was facing. Once I decided to go truck, it was Tacoma or F150.

For me the decision came down to this: i wanted the additional maneuverability of a slightly smaller truck, wanted the lesser footprint because I park downtown, the only towing i do is a boat and a trailer, and I just think Tacomas are hands-down the best looking trucks on the road and it's not close. I brought both car seats with me on a few test drives, and I find the double cab to be fine for my family. My dudes are 6 and 3. I am over 6'. Plenty of room for the four of us including two car seats.

Long term the v8 is the choice and if you look at performance vs EcoBoost they are close

if you need a full size get a tundra, mid size get a tacoma.
i would rather get a 10+ year old toyota than a brand new domestic.

i was offered 4k more for my used toyota truck
with 150k miles than i paid for it new. anyone with a ford have that experience?

i took a 20k loss for my chevy. similar condition and miles as the toyota

Yup. Toyota knows its customers can be loyal to the point of being blind.

I have owned a Ran 1500 sport and 2 different F-150's, now have a 19 TRD OR DCSB. Like everyone is saying there are distinct differences and it comes down to what you plan to use the truck for. As for having 2 kids, I have a 15 and a 9 year old. The full size truck obviously had more room in the back but Tacoma does just fine, being that they are in car seats and you have years before their feet are going to touch the ground. I think either one will work just fine for you unless you plan on keeping the truck for 12+ years. I bought the Tacoma because I'm also a big Jeep guy and wanted a truck that I could build out for overlanding (specifically to get the 9 year old into it).

Tacoma manual only available in expensive packages. Not too sure about reliability anymore, haven't heard about F150 frames rusting out, or secondary air pump failures. Tacoma, and other mid-size trucks are way overpriced for what you get...

    A few.
I heard about bad throttle bodies causing the trucks to shut off going down the road. And bad door hinge recall causing doors to open.

My brother-in-law was in the same situation looking at the same two trucks. He ended up going with the F150. It does have a ton of room in the back but now he has to park in his driveway as it will not fit in his garage. His truck does have a few more bells and whistles, but I wouldn't trade my '18 TRD Sport Premium for it. But then again I'm 45 with no kids. You've got to do what is best for you. My previous Nissan Frontier Crew Cab did have a bit more room in the rear.

On F-150 forums the V8 has just as many if not more issues right now than the EB engines.

If you don't go on tight trails, don't mind the size for daily duties, and have a garage big enough to park a fullsize truck in, then go with the F150.

I wanted a truck, but something small enough to not have to park a mile away to park and get paranoid about door dings from squeezing into parking spots. And not handle like an overweight whale on the road. But would still have the utility of a truck. Tacoma is a great compromise for a 1-car solution.

    Tacoma, by a long shot.

If I was going to go full size I'd go with the Silverado. F-150 looks so mediocre, IMO.

Some of the new 5.0 are using oil and getting replaced by Ford. I would just hate to have a new truck in the shop with the cap lifted off the frame for engine replacement. The 5.0 would have been my first choice until I found this out, I think the 5.0 was changed in 2018 (?)

Having had both I can tell you F150 is a lot more truck and way more space with having kids. The only thing that sucks is the resale isn’t nearly as good but they have got better on the F150’s. Gas mileage is about the same, more if you get the 2.7 and the powertrain in the f150 is 10x better.
