I'd like to get the bucket seats redone in my 2004 Tacoma SR5 extra cab, but it looks like most of the OEM stuff for the left side is now NLA. My driver seat is not torn, but the material on the bolster is showing its age. I do not have the 60/40 bench. I have single buckets with a full console. I've been told I have base bucket seats and there was a sport version with deeper bolsters. It seems that no one makes a cover for a base bucket seat roadwire, leatherseats have all said nope.

I've looked at complete aftermarket options, but in my price point around $2k it's mostly boy racer looking stuff with compromises. The seats still need to fold forward and look like they belong in the truck. I'd buy a seat of recaros, but they got out of the aftermarket seat business and I don't feel like tracking down two used ones to have them redone in an OEM looking color.

Does anyone have a picture of what a Sport bucket seat looks like compared to a base? I've only seen sport seats in the 4Runners

Have you considered going to an auto upholstery shop and getting a quote to have your seat recovered? I don't think it'll be anywhere near the $2k mark.

I think that's going to be my only real option to the front and rear jump seats done in an OEM type of material in a stock sewing pattern. I've looked at a lot of used driver side seats and the nicest ones don't look any better than mine. The last set of front and rear seats I had redone were $1600, but that was over 10 years ago.

You can get a set of leather Katzkins for less than $1600. I had a set of black leather with seat heaters installed in my double cab for $1300, out the door.

How about just getting a set of seat covers? Out of site, out of mind?

Katskins does not have anything for first gens on their site. I don't like seat covers, IMO they're kind of like putting a clean pair of pants over skid marked underwear.

Haha. True that. Thats why I went with Katzkins. Bummer that they don't have anything for the 1st gen.

I did find a solution to my seat cover problem. I'm having them done in leather. The front seats, rear jump seats and back panel and the door panel inserts. This will be an OEMish color in the stock sewing pattern. The total cost $1715. They will look like this when done https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/wtt-01-04-tacoma-bucket-leather-seats.327437/

I should have the covers on Tuesday and pending any disasters I'll have them installed in a few weeks. I know some people will cringe at the price, but aftermarket seats were just not an option for me.

The kit is made by Roadwire. I did find out later that they still made a kit for base buckets.

have yours developed this 'squeak' on the right turns (and bumps) right in the mid-upper part under left shoulder
do you know what I am talking about?

No squeaks coming from the seat, although I have the identical door closing/opening squeak that you have with humidity.

mechanic gave me the # of 'the seat guy' that might be able to figure it out,
it might be a bracket/weld on the inside that has become lose from all the weight shift over the years making right turns

i need a new Tacoma floormat that looks as good as yours, my clutch foot has worn a hole through to the rubber backing :(

Mildly off-topic but my passenger seat rattles and squeaks like hell when it has no weight in it. It's bolted down tight. I've seen people on here say it's the slide rail. Driver's probably has it too but you know... I'm always sitting in it.

The 3rd gen 4Runner just has all around better seats and we got stiffed with the worst quality Toyota seats I've ever seen.

My sunroof latch recently started vibrating, thought it was the passenger seat at first. Couple of days ago a fastener finally fell out of the latch. Luckily found it on the floor yesterday, rattle solved!

my relatives 2o11 Tacoma single cab does this too on the passenger side, I figured out how to partially eliminate it for them by moving the back part to recline forward a bit, it usually stopped the annoying squeak over bumps
